Zika virus: Transmission form

Introduction

The Zika virus belongs to the Flaviviradae family, was found for the first time in a monkey called Rhesus febrile and in the human being in 1953 in Nigeria. This virus has affected the vast majority of countries in both America and Africa and Asia. It is related to the dengue and chikungunya virus due to its similar symptoms, such as fever, headaches, muscle and joint pain between 2 and 7 days.

The form of transmission of this disease is due to the bite of a mosquito called Aedes aegypti, but there are other forms such as sexual transmission, the mother to the fetus or by blood transfusion. Studies reveal that in pregnant women with the Zika virus the son comes to develop microcephaly or other diseases that affect the central nervous system, it is recognized that this can happen during the first trimester of pregnancy. This disease is also related to Guillain-Barre syndrome.

Developing

Although there is no zika vaccine. Its diagnosis is given from the recent symptoms or background.

Specific treatment is not needed, but it must be kept at rest, administer drugs to treat pain and drink a lot of liquid. WHO has collaborated with several countries to solve and prevention of the Zika virus through research of this disease with experts and associated with the subject among other strategies.

It is interesting, although more worrying to know that a mosquito can cause not only a disease but several, so every time we get sick we must consult with a doctor and not self-medicate ourselves. Over time this disease has affected many people and perhaps at first it was not known how to treat it, but at least measures could be given to prevent it, even so, I think scientists should try to find an effective vaccine and give talks especially in warm areas to prevent the virus.

conclusion

Inform more and more people who not only can be given by bite, but also by sexual transmission so that people take into account and use preventive measures. I think the talks would prevent people more, because at least I thought it only occurred through a sting and with this article I knew that it is not only for that reason why. All research carried out have been in great benefit to know more and more about the Zika virus and it is important that these research have the collaboration of a large organization such as WHO, since more effective and worldwide can be obtained.
