Wisdom, terminal and instrumental values
In this document we will talk about the meaning of the values, the differences between the terminal values and the instrumental values, we will also focus specifically on one of them which belongs to the group of terminal values, we do not refer to the value of wisdom, but fortalk about wisdom first it is necessary to know what values are and because they are so important in human being.
It can be said that values are an essential part of the personalities of each of the human beings, because, due to the different values that each human being carries, their personality, their way of acting or thinking can be highlighted.
Instrumental values are the various ways of acting of a person in different situations in order to achieve an objective, these values are what human needs are satisfied in a certain way and also that through them they are socially accepted. According to Rockeach, R. (1973) cited by Robbins (2002, P. 175) says that instrumental values "are a stable belief in the time of a certain existential behavior or purpose" when the value has means to achieve an objective, the value is applied as a criterion.
Terminal values are more abstract values are objectives and goals that an individual wants to achieve during his life such as happiness, family, freedom, appreciation etc.
It is also to know that instrumental and terminal values differ between them, on the one hand the terminals that are the goals that a person wants to reach in the course of their life and the instruments that are the means to achieve these goals. These values are important for the various studies on organizational behavior to better understand both the perception, motivations and attitudes of people. In order to apply and develop these values, people have to interact with their individual potential.
Now seeing this within organizations for Siliceo, to. (1999), values in companies come from globalization in relation to localities, which leads to a responsibility for traditional people and communities, cultures and organizational climate, to the inevitable need to transcend their specific purposes and to align theirown mission in relation to the global destiny, where to material or spiritual, individual or social production, a value as a direct contribution to the sustainability of the common and globalized destiny is added, and produce a code of values and an ethical regulations. Siliceo also says, to. (1999), that a certain group of values within the organization allows individuals to "be accepted and recognized as a good member of the community by others, this allows you to enjoy the protection of group rights",“To know each other appreciated by others and integrated into the norms and values that govern organizational life, produces, in general, self-satisfaction.".
The value of wisdom can be attributed to those people who have acquired a lot of knowledge, the same ones who use with intelligence and prudence, adopting this knowledge in the best possible way within their daily lives, implemented wisdom on their environmentor in the decisions that have to make, this to be able to achieve those that are proposed or to prevent possible threats for what you want to achieve. A wise person not that who memorizes a lot of books, is the person who according to the knowledge he acquired reading those books implements it within his daily life to improve it.
As the Greek philosopher Aristotle (384 BC – 322 AC) said, "wisdom is an ornament in prosperity and a refuge in adversity" this refers to that when everything that happens around us occurs in our favor we believeWhat happens because it must be and our knowledge goes to the background, causing an interruption when acquiring new knowledge, since they seem unnecessary. On the contrary, in the worst moments it is when we realize that our skills and knowledge are those that can get us out of these adversities.
Already talking about wisdom within the business field where we focus more on decision making and as the members of an organization have that wisdom to collect information and make decisions together, of course all this does not often happen in current companies, andthat there is too much information within this and not all the information is captured by the experts if it was managed in a more appropriate and organized way they could be made more wise and exact decisions. In some companies there are wise teams where they are a small percentage of people who interact and commit themselves to a specific project are obviously responsible for the effort that is made and the results obtained with that common goal.
Regarding this we can say that knowledge is something that we must be acquiring at all times, because of this same we acquire experience and we can be more prepared to solve future adversities and take advantage of the best moments to nurture our mind and develop more our skills.
As I mentions, Goethe German poet and playwright. (1749-1832) “It is not enough to know, it must also be applied. Willing is not enough, one must also do."With this we can conclude that for Mr. Goethe, possessing knowledge is not enough, because yes, knowledge is very useful, but, if this is not used, it makes no sense to continue acquiring anymore, so knowledge is not enough if notit is implemented.
Another phrase is not supplied by Mr. Napoleon Bonaparte. French emperor. (1769-1821) which says that “the wise are those who seek wisdom; The fools think and have found it."This refers to those people who conform to knowing a lot and are not interestedmore to learn will not be satisfied and seek new forms of knowledge.
The Great Albert Einstein Americanized Americanized American. (1879-1955) tells us that “every day we know more and understand less."That refers to the fact that we are constantly in the search for knowledge, this cannot be taken as something bad, the problem that this knowledge acquired is not used, and saying that it is not used is that it is not implemented at any time andThis resource is not used, it stays in that, in simple knowledge.
