Video game professional in Colombia and/or Latin America

Video games over time have become more popular today, and most young people share this type of “hobby” with friends and acquaintances, but this new generation integrated almost entirely by the world of the Internet, hascould congenize to create a new form of competition;Electronic sports, or better known as “E-Sports”, these are video game competitions that have become events of great popularity and that through a face-to-face or virtual platform provides the public live broadcasts thatThey show the different skills of the players, forming professional teams that seek to face others to be the champions and be named the best in one of the most popular games.

However, this new type of entertainment is not shared equitably worldwide. Main countries such as the United States or South Korea are the first to be named in this type of event and where at the same time the best players in the world have been seen and known. But when talking about Latin American countries, there is not much information, since there are still traditional thoughts that make these types of events as something basic or unattainable for young people. Throughout this essay we want to present the main advances and events that have shown that competences and tournaments can be had in Latin American countries, disarming the basic ideas named above and that you can have the same level as other people around the world.

In Colombia, the taste for video games in youngA taste or something momentary to be something that demonstrates passion and pure ability. “Video games have become a discipline of competition, in which participants dedicate time to train to be the best as well as any high performance sport. Colombian players have shown that they have a great level and can achieve international titles ”(Rolando López, 2011) General Director of E-Fest, the main event for the search for new players.

Another important feature is how the few people who have been able to enter the professional world of video games are maintained and liveColombia. Sergio Silva, better known as "Cotopaco" is the first Colombian to win the Latin American final that took place at the Movistar Arena in Santiago de Chile of the well -known League of Legends game, a competitive multiplayer that requires certain specific skills to be able to stand out throughoutcommunity. But, just as it has been appointed previously, it was not an easy way to get to where it is now. Since both their family and friends said they would not support him or that it was something crazyImport what were the comments of his family or friends, he followed what he was passionate about and at age 17 he went to live in Mexico to belong and train in the professional team that in this last year he has been a participant in several tournaments throughout Latin America.

Continuing with the previous argument you have to talk about how the life of a "gamer" is. Although at first Sergio played for fun, he began to realize that it was good, and went up in ranking as one of the best on the Latin American server. League of Legends is divided by leagues: iron, bronze, silver, gold, platinum, diamond, teacher, great teacher and challenger, in the latter is where the most skilled players are, 200 to be exact, which as theDays these positions in Ranking vary, almost forcing these professionals to continue playing and demonstrating that they have the same level as with which they arrived at first, or on the contrary, more than shown at the beginning of the league. Silva has a quite exhausting work schedule, even if it doesn’t look like it, he gets up at 10 in the morning, breakfast and at 11 he is already practicing until 8 p.m., his free time could use it in other things, butHe prefers to continue training to be better and better. This testimony demonstrates the commitment which this young Colombian has, demonstrating that it is possible to play video games and become professional following what many consider a “hobby”.

Within this framework, what are the benefits of playing video games are to be considered, it must be clarified that not only of a single type, the Moba (multiplayer online battle sand) are considered the most popular for competitions, but there are other games thatThey were specifically designed to improve, and not only in the world of competencies. “Many of the cognitive skills and abilities are generated thanks to a direct relationship with the network, or more specifically with the videos games. Certain studies have shown that several students have improved their academic results thanks to a game called Dimensionm, among others, allowing an advance of knowledge and ingenuity ”(Cubillos, 2011), continuing with the appointment, this has allowed that in addition to havingAn improvement in the cognitive part of the brain, a free moral is handled, creating identity and a space free of expression, creating a community and leaving young people to develop their personality differently.

From all this is an analysis within each person, many think that video games are a hobby or a “hoobie”, they even believe it is a bad thing, but events, studies and testimonies demonstrate otherwise, that it is possible to work as a professional fromvideo games, just as a professional soccer player or similar. Morality in Colombia and/or Latin America closes these types of ideas, with conservative or ancient comments or thoughts that deny the dreams or goals of several young Hispanics, but little by little more meeting places are allowed for the “Gamer” community,a space where they know they will fit. In several universities in Latin America they have created careers related to the theme of video games that leave aside those ideas and open a new horizon for a new world, to get more and more level in development and creating a better world for this new digital generation.
