Uncertainty between evil and absolute goodness in ‘Fausto’
Fausto literary work by Johann Wolfang Goethe, divided into two parts: the first was published in 1808;The second part was posthumously published in 1832. Goethe’s tragic work is probably the most respected of the entire phaustic tradition, as well as one of the top of German literature. Johann who was a taxpayer of Romanticism, a movement to which he deeply influenced, was a poet, novelist and scientist, in Goethe there is a reflection on this typically human phenomenon that is the poetic language for romanticism and in turn this work was inspired by a novellyric. Fausto is a story that reflects the struggle between good and evil, in which the issue of pleasure is presented exclusively and what is willing to do the human being to provide it, although to achieve it it uses the wrong media. Knowledge exploration can take us on dark roads or illuminated roads and in turn can reveal both evil and good that underlies us within us. This legend is about that spiritual search, and implies a self-confrontation that notorious the deep paradox of light and dark that is hidden in the nucleus of the human soul. It is said that we must be good with our actions to be acceptable in the eyes of God. However, Fausto’s story teaches us that goodness is related to the definition of ethics affiliated with a given society at any time in history. Seeing it from this perspective, it is worth asking, what factors influence the main protagonist of Faust in the search for supreme knowledge?
This story tells an individual dedicated to science who is obsessed with the search for knowledge, but not being able to acquire it, feels dominated by frustration. Faust despite having extensive knowledge, wants to know more regardless of the means by which to get this desire. So it shows the nonconformist side of people, who are not satisfied with what they have of themselves and around, this work is based on the motto that every human being has power over himself so he can decide which path to chooseTo have a successful, pleasant and full life.
Love and regrets Two terms that are not exiled to the doctrines of a specific culture or religion and it is these that allow us to see the light and darkness of the day, and in some way conserving the integrity of the soul. The frustration of knowing a way of life that tries to fight but which does not belong is really broken when it comes into contact with a reality to yours, this is one of the factors that occur in the Fausto stage creating in this character the ambitionto achieve a supreme knowledge. Man just by wanting to acquire more power is influenced, losing very important things in life as family and religious values, and greed is one of the components that lead to lose reason.
It is worth mentioning that Fausto is a wise man with virtues but in turn he has defects like anyone, imperfections help us be afraid and try to solve them helps us to have value. Goethe shows the human side in the work by the hand of evil as if both were in the same condition, so that those passionate things that move the human being are in the contour between the good and the bad that are amoral, neutral duringThe story, the emotional evil most of them, however, at the end of this narrative are these same actions as the love of Margarita one of the secondary characters that allow Fausto escape from evil. It also represents a change in the estimate of the world for Faust as long as its way of seeing things changes.
This work portrays a dispute between good and evil because they face Faust’s soul, who questions the decision of man. Intellectual restlessness and its final ability to overcome evil, and achieve salvation. In the human being there is no absolute form, nor goodness and malice;but human personality is complex and versatile. The feeling of fear and cruelty is added the inevitable attraction of the curious and the surprising, that a mixture of intense bewildards and imaginative provocation arises, whose vitality lasts as much as in humanity.
It could be argued that (Aristotle, 2012). "True happiness consists in doing good". It all depends on the actions you carry out and based on that you will find happiness, people currentAnd no one else, we blind ourselves before, the weakness as human beings is to accept reality and resignation to the problems that arise in the least expected moments of your life. Without a doubt, the world is not as bad as we believe but it is not perfect since by nature there must be that balance of the good and the bad, the essence is to make mistakes but correct what was done wrong and that was what happened in Faustrepentance and realized how bad he had acted and even the negative walk of his new directions to obtain the supreme knowledge he longed for.
Fausto this main protagonist at the end of the day decides to commit suicide, where he reached a certain point where nothing affected him as before and began to feel disappointed to know everything he had acquired and done, but still did not feel happy with himself with himself. To the above, it is added that Faust. Here is the deep paradox of good and evil, in order to understand good, we must recognize evil;And to get to this recognition we must first discover it in the secret darkness of our own heart.
At this point you can highlight that thought of Mefistopheles one of the central characters of the work, who was nominated as evil (Goethe, 1808). "I am a part of the darkness that the light engendered, that superb light that disputes to the mother night and place". Through the intervention of our inner darkness it is how we can finally find the light, this life is not only clear how it is believed, so that it can be interpreted that in the universe there was only darkness until God said that the light was madeThus, the mother night was the one reigned and the light has taken her place.
Like Fausto we live only by experiencing a power, some maybe two, and we seek to understand the third, the spiritual of the way in which we perceive our intellect or our body. Johann Goethe transmits through this story the interest in discovering that fullness of what we are able to obtain, without a doubt man is the only creature that refuses to be what it is. From my point of view good and evil are two interdependent terms each of these forces needs the other to exist. Fausto is the clear example of the actions and decisions made by human being in life, an increase in energy of evil implies a decrease in energy of good, this is not considered imbalance, but part of the vital process. The factors that were presented to Faust for looking for knowledge wasTolerant for the common good, but in the end it manages to understand that peace is the only way to build a better life.
