To achieve success, you have to lose fear

Introduction

In order to achieve success in life, the regulation of affectivity and reason is essential, since it is these that are activated when we have been wrong and we feel bad about it. This makes us reflect on these negative effects and define without the guilty of that suffering. This is why it is very important that teachers teach children and favor their development of the habit of reflecting on the meaning of their affective experiences, in order to locate the purpose of suffering and know how to accept and tolerate it.

Developing

In the event that children do not develop this habit, they will lead them to have a fearful, phobic and addicted personality to behaviors that produce instant pleasure and thus avoid suffering, which will make happiness difficult for them. For these reasons it is relevant that children learn to suffer in a good mood so that they can be logical and free, which is the safest way to achieve happiness. Also, apart from school parents must teach the child to self-regulate emotions, since in this way the child can calm himself and prevent negative emotions.

But what is fear? Fear along with joy, sadness, anger, disgust and surprise is one of the primary and universal emotions with a strong instinctive character. Fear is a negative emotion and helps the person’s survival, since it alerts the existence of a danger and with the help of reason allows to elaborate a defense or flight strategy. Fear produces positive and negative feelings, it is a primary way to know the reality that must be understood or interpreted by reason.

When fear is proportionate to the stimulus, the person is able to understand the warning of danger that fear transmits and knows what to do, both to avoid danger and to face him. When fear is excessive, the person has not enough will to face risk. There is a fear of extreme intensity, called panic, which causes a physical and psychological paralysis that makes the person impossible or that the person faces the danger. In addition, if the person tries to avoid it in the future so as not to live it, it will mean that this person has developed a phobia.

Also, the common cause of all fears is suffering. We are afraid of the multitude of personal and environmental situations that will produce suffering. The more it is suffered, the more fear it will be felt, which usually involves a greater risk of suffering in the future, since as I have mentioned above, the fear of extreme intensity hinders the correct functioning of reason and will, for whichThe person is unable to solve the problem that has caused that suffering.

There are two strategies to control and overcome fears. The first of these is systematic desensitization, which is based on getting the person to eliminate the fear of phobic stimuli, confronting them, starting with those who cause them less phobia and go increasing until the most. The second strategy is the vicar (imitation) learning that consists in observing how other subjects act and face the situations that generates fear and that is when they are observing them they are on alert and, therefore, makes the scene remember perfectlyAnd as a consequence when they meet again in that fear situation they imitate how the person they were seeing has acted.

conclusion

People who, with strong will, manage to dominate, or at least try, their fears are said to have courage, since they have the courage to face the situations that can make them suffer. As I mentioned above, it is very important that children are able to face their fears and a good way it would be for educators to motivate them to be brave and thus stop being cowardly because of fear. Therefore, educators must perform a constant task of motivation or awareness of children and adolescents, so that they fight to be brave, since it is the only way to overcome and control fears, and prevent pathological fears from developing.
