The nuances of symbolism

Introduction

The word "symbol" has several nuances of meaning to consider. To specify the terminology in use, it is important to distinguish the symbolic image of the others with which it is confused. Due to these confusion, the symbol becomes bland, disregards and falls into rhetoric, either in academic talks or gatherings between friends. To understand the symbology within "Ides of March" we must differentiate between the different ways of presenting a sign. The emblem is a visible figure adopted conventionally to represent an idea. Allegory is a figuration on an almost always human form.

Developing

Although sometimes animal or plant;shows a feat, a situation, a virtue. Always abstractly. The metaphor reveals a similarity between two entities or facts: owl audition is a sound flood. Analogy is a connection between essentially different beings or notions, but similar in a certain aspect;Achilles’ anger, for example, has only an analogy with the anger of the gods. Thinking of analogies is the origin of innumerable debates and confusion. The parable is a story possessing a sense in itself, but destined to suggest, beyond its immediate meaning, a moral lesson.

Thus all these figurative forms that constitute an expression have in common the being signs and not exceed the territory of significance.  They are media, tools, communication that belong to imaginary or intellectual knowledge, which tries to be a mirror, a representation. "Cooling symbol" will say Hegel of allegory;"Semantics dried in semiology" will specify Gilbert Durand. Thus the symbol is distinguished from the representations of sign, since this is an arbitrary convention that leaves the signifier and the meaning (object-subject) of one to another, that is, that the symbol implies “homogeneity of the signifier and the meaning in thesense of an organizing dynamism ".

Relying on Jung’s work, Piaget, Freud, H. Echo. Gilbert founds about the structure of the imagination is: “Organizing dynamism, homogeneity factor in representation. Far from being the faculty to show images, imagination is dynamic power that deforms pragmatic copies formed by perception and that reforming dynamism of sensations becomes the foundation of whole psychic life. We can say that the symbol has more than an artificially given sense, because it holds an essential and spontaneous resonance power ”(Durs) in space poetics, g. Bachelard specifies this point.

conclusion

"Resonance calls us at a deepening of our own existence. A turn of being operates ". Thus the symbol is truly innovative. It is not content with provoking resonances, claims a metamorphosis, as the analysis of the symbols in the character of Paul Zora will show. C.G Jung, considers the symbol as "a formal possibility of reproducing similar or at least analogous ideas, or an inherent condition of psyche, which has a certain part linked to the brain" (Jung) thus we will see how G. Clooney, through certain signifiers (objects) will show us the condition of the characters psyche. In this case the campaign manager Paul Zara.
