The most negative consequences of the Spanish Civil War
It is undeniable that the events that occurred after the war between the Republicans and the nationalists broke out in the key piece that forged the future of Spain, especially in the postwar years, because they brought to the surface a wide range of consequences of consequenceseconomic and political (among others) and in this forum we will clarify which of those were the most bad.
It is an illusion to presume that the economic consequences of war would not have dominated the reins of the Spanish’s lives. Devastorly, the civil war cost an eye of the face, for example, the Republicans had to amortize the USSR with the gold reserves of the Bank of Spain while the nationalists resided in debt with Italy and Germany, and therefore, peopleSpanish had to see them with the untimely load of an economic stagnation. Franco’s regime implemented novel strategies, verbigracia, was necessary for Spanish people to use ration cards, of which they quickly became common currency.
Now let’s consider the political sequelae of the civil war that covers the Francoist dictatorship that not only triggered the worldwide isolation of Spain but also revoked all the modern advances of the Second Republic, guaranteeing that the country will focus once again on a traditional and religious ideology. As if that were not enough, when they won the war, the nationalists made a "purification" of the Republicans where they murdered anyone linked to the left, for example, to Federico García Lorca, a poet and playwright with socialist beliefs. It is also estimated that around 500.000 Republicans banished outside Spain, a detriment of the country’s culture and economy because of a brain leak and a scarcity of a workforce.
Taking everything in consideration, I have concluded that the political consequences were the most serious. In my opinion, if it were not for the Franco dictatorship, Spain would not have been isolated internationally due to its nationalist political agenda which means that the economy would not have taken so many decades to recover. In addition, having won the Republicans, there would have been no requirement to use ration cards more than ten years after the war. There is no other conclusion that is worth that although the economic impacts were catastrophic in their own right, political repercussions threw much more firewood to the fire.
