The influence of the press written on the representation of the current Lima Women
In 2018, 150 femicides were registered at the national level according to the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI). These aggressions are backed by a society that naturalizes sexist and hierarchy behaviors, which are represented, among others, in the media. The media, as are the newspapers, when consumed by a large majority of the Peruvian population, constitute a means capable of influencing the current society negatively or positively. In this regard, I consider that the representation of women in the written press encourages its watery and status of vulnerability in Peruvian society.
The media must be constantly updated according to the sociocultural context in which they develop. Written media must stop representing women from an androcentric perspective. Androcentrism, according to the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) is "the vision of the world and social relations focused on the male point of view". The media influence the daily life of thousands of Lima citizens since they shape public opinion by building daily news and sections of interest in their newspapers. Each section with a specific audience in mind to satisfy, so this process implies including and excluding certain information from reality and also implies hierarchizing certain facts, events, images, etc. depending on the consumer public to which he is focusing. Newspapers such as the aforementioned "trome" maintain the hierarchical order of inequality and encourage the watery stereotypes that denigrate the woman.
