The inequality and unequal distribution of economic in the world
I wanted to do the essay on "inequality" because of the issues to be addressed in the subject of ethics, it is one of the most attracted my attention. Seeing the contents of the subject and looking in different sources, I wanted to focus on economic inequality in the world.
Economic inequality is the unequal distribution of income among the different groups of society. This issue is one of those who most concern society today, since many people are trapped in poverty and it is difficult for them to ascend on the social scale. I feel that this issue is very difficult to discuss, if it is true that we can treat it through education and social assistance programs to help that sector of the population out of poverty, being possible to reduce inequality.
In addition, we can differentiate between three types of economic inequality:
Income inequality: With this we refer to the inequality that exists for the distribution of income. In this type, we must know that income is received by different means, such as investments, rentals or employment.
Salary inequality: This type of inequality can distinguish it from the previous one because it focuses on the pay only through employment. Here we can see difference from salaries within different organizations. Within companies there are distinctions for different factors, for example, for the position that a person occupies.
Patrimonial inequality: This type of wealth is the amount of assets that a person or family has.
As we already know, 1% of the population has much more wealth than the remaining percentage, 99%. In my opinion, it is a fairly surprising percentage, since there are very few who really have the wealth of the world. In addition, wealth also depends on different characteristics, such as the ethnic origin or sex of the person. These last two factors that I have mentioned, I think they have influenced for many years and that today continue to occur in sites in our environment, such as in known companies, since we have seen enough incidents in which a woman charges less than a man than a manfor being female. In my opinion, I feel that this is something that has to end, since there should be no distinctions in that sense.
In the previous graph, we can see which countries represent the greatest portion of wealth, the 1% of which we speak before. We can see that Russia is positioned in the first country with greater wealth, followed by India. Something that surprised me about the graph was that the United States was in fourth place, thinking that this was going to be in the first two countries with more wealth. This does not mean that Russia is the country with the most economic inequality in the world. In fact, the country that suffers more economic inequality is Seychelles, the richest country in Africa. Although it is the richest country in the African continent, wealth does not fall into everyone’s hands, but a few. This makes possible the economic difference between the different groups of society.
In addition, I would like to highlight the United States, since as I have been able to read in different articles, it is one of the countries with the most economic inequality in the world. Within the country you can see remarkable inequality between the different sectors of society. In addition, it is something that I can corroborate, since we recently went to San Francisco, and the first thing we could notice was the great contrast between people with money and the poor, since this last sector of the population is usually in the street forThe inequality of opportunities they have in the country. Within the country there are different factors that only people can use with money, such as health. Also, I had the pleasure of talking with different people who are living there and they told me that the United States was a very capitalist country and that for example, you could see in the activities that different organizations perform, since they do not usually have a social proposal,but monetary.
Neither Seychelles, nor the United States are clearly the only ones who suffer from this inequality, in fact, I would like to be able to comment on inequality within the European Union. As we have been able to read, the EU also suffers this and as the years have passed we have been ablecompetition between European companies. In addition, we must know that Spain is among the first three countries that suffer the most economic inequality.
In conclusion, I feel that economic inequality is an issue of great relevance to which we must give a solution, since there are really poor countries that suffer from this inequality and have almost no opportunities. Taking it to the field of companies, I feel that there should not be any distinction for example with characteristics such as gender or nationality, since I feel that it is not something ethical.
