THE HISTORY OF TELEVISION

The history of television has been brief but exciting. In fact, it has been so short that many of our parents were there from the beginning or, if they are young enough, our grandparents.

Television was not invented by a single inventor, instead many people worked together and alone over the years. And all of them contributed to the evolution of television.

Inventors around the world had been working on the transmission of images or objects to a screen since the 1830s, but the first physical television did not take place until 1900. Five men became the most popular and prestigious inventors of what we know today as television.

The invention of television

1884

A German inventor named Paul Nipkow invented the first rotating album that would allow the images to be transmitted through the cable. His discovery was the first electromechanical television scan system in the world. This rotating disc revolved at a quick speed, while the light passed through the holes to create an image on a screen.

1923

Charles Jenkins invented a mechanical television that called ‘Radiovisión’, which is said to broadcast one of the first moving images in 1923. This American inventor continued to promote his theories in television technology along with other inventors when they broadcast the first live images to a screen. This pioneer in television history is also famous for creating the first television station in North America.

1920

Vladimir Zworykin invented the Cathode Ray tube, which he called the kinescope and began a new era in the history of television. Before kinescope, televisions in the 1920s were mechanics. The cathode ray tube was not only necessary for transmission;This device transformed the TV into an electronic device.

1930

Finally, an American farmer named Philo Farnsworth made great progress in television history at the age of 13, when he discovered a way to transmit images to a screen by using 60 horizontal lines, which made the clearest image. Farnsworth also invented more than 165 devices, including the dissection tube, which became the basis for televisions we use today.
