Sociology Name Institution Identified Problem There has been an issue between young and older employees in the company as they fight for supremacy. Older employees feel they have experienced while the younger employees-the millennials to be exact, feel they have fresh ideas that will help propel the company ahead. Over sixty percent of employers have reported occurrences of tension among workers from dissimilar generations. Approximately seventy percent of older employees have been seen in the dismissal of younger employees' capabilities and talent, while approximately fifty percent of younger workers dismiss capabilities and talents of their older counterparts. These statistics are upsetting as currently the organization is appealing to the management to do more with limited resources, and employ measures that are cost-effective and collaborative and be more inventive. The degree of mixed generational workplace infighting appears to be the main problem. Point of Pride: Employ adaptive leadership in and foster collaboration, connectivity, innovation, and sharing. Besides social advances, advances in technology play a major role in the differences in generations. Daniel Rasmus, in 2007 wrote a book, while working at Microsoft, “Listening to the Future” for the " Microsoft Executive Leadership Series" (Rasmus & Salkowitz, 2007). The authors of the book explain from a technological and Microsoft perspective what the next generation has need of from their work environment to succeed. For managers, the authors point out that adaptation of new strategies in a critical element for one to be an effective and relevant leader in a workplace with millennials. One
