Social Contract, System that works

Next, in this section I will give my point of view about the book I have read, a small summary that helps us to understand why of the realization of the book and I will add my personal opinion about everything that happened and how it could be adapted in the current times.

Jean-Jacques Rousseau, was a philosopher, writer and polymata who was born in Switzerland who lived most of his life in France. He was classified as the author of the enlightened era, however, most of his writings contradicted the thoughts of an enlightened. This caused several criticisms of other authors and to be appointed as one of the first authors of pre-romanticism. Even several of his political ideas influence. XX.

In this book Rousseau, he wants to make it clear what his point of view is about how a government should be. The freedom and equality of man in the State that is governed by the social contract that has been carried out. In each chapter he develops his explanation about because he believes that the State should be developed through a contract between men and him and how is the best option of a just government in which the people are participant. Also, he develops in the different chapters of the four books the complications of establishing the social contract.

Once established what the author wanted to imply in the book, I will give my point of view and personal opinion about the book and about the ideas imposed on him. Within the book I must limit that I agree with the political system proposed as long as they do not attempt against this freedom. In addition, the opinions of each citizen are valid and deserve to be heard since in the end those who will be in charge of choosing a representative will be them. However, although the wishes of the people must first be put before, many times the government representatives do not fulfill it and get carried away by the wishes themselves. This implies that acts of corruption or fraud are carried out within the State. Therefore, it is good that the representatives with their deputies do not remain so long in power, that a time limit stays, something with which I agree a lot, a person cannot be given a power for a prolonged time due that this can assume its accustoming to this and with it that it takes advantage of the decision of the people who have taken it where it is located.

One of the things to comment with what I do not agree, is that he argues that, in the times of crisis to preserve the security of the homeland, a position higher than the laws, that of the dictator and that it is also for Avoid the tyranny of those chosen dictators, is done for an unlimited time. But as the figure of the dictator has already been seen in society if he fulfills his position above the laws to a point where the limit time does not have it. This is because no one is above him, so no one can prevent him from staying in the position the time he sees the necessary. Here, this tyranny occurs, the people have no freedom of decision on those who want as a government representative or his opinion is heard. They only serve to obey and fulfill what the dictator sees correct for the people. In spite, that much can be done for the country both economically and with international relations, it should not be forgotten that he is going against the right to citizen freedom only to preserve the image of the country. According to my opinion, you cannot have a correct image of a country, if inside the people’s human rights violations occur.

If we compare the type of government that refers to the present, we could say that this would resemble what is called democracy today with governments that usually last four years, so that no kind of power occurs. In this there are all the points that Rousseau gives as the true social pact between man and sovereign. Although, at present, there is almost no country that has a one hundred percent democratic political system, if in all countries they have basic components as a time limit for the presidency of the Government, the freedom and equality of the people before the State and respect for their opinions, etc. Even so, there are still, many countries that have systems in which the freedom of the people in the State is not seen anywhere and where their opinion is not respected. Even the equality that is not imposed so much, since, in most countries, despite, to meet in the S. XXI, women are not treated with equality or equity that men. They continue to stereoty the jobs and many women cannot do it. Also, in most countries women cannot vote, much less to be able to participate in the political situation of their own country.

To conclude, we can say that the political system proposed by Rousseau through its social contract is a system that really works, since at present several of its qualities are implemented in different systems of the countries, despite the fact that you can Improve even a little more so that a good condition can be achieved in which there is neither tyrannies nor corruptions and thus there is harmony between the State and the people.
