Social behaviors in the play

The next essay aims to talk about sexist and sexist behavior. A brief play will be taken, the lady on her balcony of Elena Garro, with her protagonist, clear, to talk about these behaviors. Sexist attitudes are sustained in beliefs and stereotypes, about different gender roles. Machismo is a way of thinking or arrogance towards women, where the male is head of a family, household support and who protects.

Clara is a woman who begins writing from her balcony, as she lived her life at four ages. She with only 8 years began to study, she taught her a professor with last name Garcia. They began seeing the issue: "The form of the world", in addition to what they believed in previous times on Earth. Clarita deviates a little about the subject, when she was talking about cities that no longer exist, among them I mention Nineveh. Which she begins to have fantasies that make that city go in the future. But Professor Garcia limits what his own identity seeks, suggests the protagonist to forget that hope. In addition, Professor Garcia said “nobody can leave for centuries’ ’(1959, P. 438) that what she does is to discourage her for her dream.

Luis Manuel García Leal wrote “Who says that the female sex is weak and that it breaks before challenges? When you have the strength of spirit, no matter age, sex or marked prejudices macho roles that try to drown breath ”(2005, p. 78). You try to imply, we are all free to do what we want. If we have dreams, hopes or objectives, nobody has to discourage us. Clarita resists recognizing this fact, and prefers better to move forward with her dream.

Clara of 20 years, she is crossed by her path Andrés, she has illusions of marrying her and leading a formal life. The protagonist emphasizes Nineve. However, Clara demonstrates the wrong about her argument. It is possible to seek identity through her memory, and she represents the success of this exercise. Her memory is for Clara only one way to achieve that goal, because the historical present was full of obstacles, in the case of her male, which prevented her from perceiving the essence of her being. The same would happen with the Latin American essence, hidden after centuries of oppression, but present in its collective memory. Carlos Fonseca Hernández, with the collaboration of Diana Berenice Pérez Fernández tell us: “Some women have exercised the right not , as inappropriate couples, the bride and groom betray them, the suitors are committed or too attachment to the mother or work, inability to have children, lack of time or interest to carry an incomparable relationship, different life projects, divorce , etc. ”(2013, P.121).

In Mexico there are today, people who retain the tradition of marrying when they are already a person of legal age, but sometimes the lady is already assigned the husband with whom she will commit. The woman does not accept, either by nonconformism or because she does not feel suitable to commit to any man. Clara was very clear, since Andrés annuls her identity, by conceiving it only as a material reality without spiritual essence.

Clara with 40 years, she has the last man who arrives at her visa, July who is her husband. They argue about trips through the centuries, she takes it well, as a wonderful activity, although it is no longer in the way she dreamed when she was young, free and adventurous. But her husband replies, that is only in her imagination and every day they are as always, same path, office and way to cross the city until you get to work. He also tells her not to agree on how her memory is used, since for Andrés, Clara tries to do is use her memory to evade this hell. There is a behavior of machismo and feminism between this discussion, since for July women cannot dream beyond the greatness of the world, since they are considered as fantasy crazy, and Clara holds their position, it is entitled to continue living their life As an adventurer. The writer Gabriela Hierro mentions: “Being for another (which, on the other hand, constitutes the second sex of Simone de Beauvoir) manifests itself in our time in through three categories of the female condition: internalization, control and use; features that in my opinion, determines the oppression of it within the family, society and the State ”(1985, p.9). The feminism proposed in the lady on her balcony, is problematic if we see in this last date of the work, Clara does not conceive the search for her identity without a man, “you and I will be the same river; We will arrive together to Nineive ”(1959, P.439). Then Clara abandoned Julio and followed her, staying alone looking at the balcony where she is writing her story, wondering about her trip to Nineveh and everything she had to surpass to achieve it. But she still feels that she lacks something, that she needs to go looking for him for the centuries, although she left everything that abolished her identity there. On the other hand she now considers to take her life as an alternative to achieve everything that she wanted so much "it is necessary to flee from myself. That should have done since it existed. I would have avoided tears. The other leaks were so useless. It was just a necessary ’’ (1959, P.444), then she takes her life, throwing himself from her balcony.

The Coordinators Arcelia de la Torre, Rosita Ojeda and Carlos Maya, write us: “From exposed elements, it is pertinent to insist on historical-cultural determination of gender relations. Within this process, oppression is essential to break invisibility and subordination of women ”(2004, p.49).

In conclusion, sexism and sexism appeared since previous times when the genre was formed. Socialism to carrying oppression and lack of equity. The authors Dalia Barrera and Raúl Arriaga through an analysis tell us: “In both situations, the woman is frequently used as an argument to deny access to the form, although in certain conditions the pressures of the electoral organs opened the doors ”(2009, P.138). Something that in Mexico is arranged through laws.
