self-reflection: academic plagiarism

Introduction

First, as an introduction the term of academic plagiarism is defined and the problematic situations in which it is difficult to define plagiarism is mentioned, three stand out: the lack of delimitation of the concept; related to the care that must exist in the use of the ideas of others and their own.

A second problem is related to plagiarism, ranging from those that are easy to detect given the textual copy of an original work, intelligent plagiarism using synonyms to denote the same idea of an original text, negligent plagiarism, which which It has caused controversies given the assumptions that are involved in the reason for this, the autoplagio when the author resorts to the use of using fragments of the works that he previously published, among others.

A third point is related to the consequences that plagiarism can cause, these are subject to the regulations that each academic body manages, these three problems are linked to the lack of ethics that the researcher implies and with it a certain degree of professional discredit.

Developing

The text focuses on the implications that the plagiar action; Defined by the SAR: as the action of copying in the substantial works of others, giving them as its own, generates impacts on the scientific context. The objective that the research governs is to provide basis for the understanding of the ways in which plagiar. Qualitative research was used through in -depth interviews in a study group of 51 Mexican researchers members of the SNI corresponding to 7 areas of CONACYT.

It is mentioned that within the bibliographic review of the article, other efficient methodologies were consulted to be able to A qualitative approach and by applying surveys.

The methodology used articulates the elements that were found in previous works, but with the application of in -depth interviews, it was intended to rescue those opinions, perceptions and reflections that the researchers had regarding plagiarism based on their personal experiences.

Of the total number of participants, 48 accepted the interviews in depth; As part of the results, it was obtained that the majority of the interviewees consider in the first instance, that it is a reprehensible, little ethical behavior, followed that there are others who consider that it is part of a natural process of the researcher.

It is noted that some researchers do not completely recognize some of the types of plagiarism that exist, they mentioned that as isolated facts they have detected plagiarism in some articles that review, but that it is not typical of their academic area, and that the measures they take before these cases They consist of stopping reading the publication, since they consider that it is a completely copied job of other works.

conclusion

Finally, this complex topic currently recovers since the technological tools facilitate the use of plagiarism detectors and thereby allow it to detect it more efficiently and with real figures. I consider it worrying that the subject is given importance, since from the point of view of some researchers interviewed the self-replaced, for example is a minor lack that is not even worth attending.

The reasons for not proceeding more severely to cases of plagiarism are due to the fact that researchers do not want Comfortable from which it is difficult to come out given the circumstances and the academic context that prevail, however the current world requires that situations are treated and resolved in a fair and efficient way.
