This work is about the problem of racism that even in the 21st century continues to present. In my work I will emphasize the workplace specifically in our country Colombia. It is done to make known that even in Colombia and in Colombia you can present this type of discrimination, I will teach, I will guide the students of the Teresita de Lisieux school to avoid committing this lack of respect and make them known the consequences that it entails.

General objective

Guide the students of the Santo Teresita de Lisieux School to avoid in the near future to be perpetrators of racial discrimination in the workplace.

Developing

"Discrimination occurs when someone feels hate towards another person or group of people due to having different qualities or characteristics, such as language, skin color, customs or place of origin".

There are many causes that are hidden after racial discrimination. Some of the most common are fear, ignorance, prejudices, lack of information or socioeconomic circumstances. On many occasions, these reasons intermingle, even unconsciously, and give rise to racist attitudes that violate human rights.

Causes can be classified as:

  • Fear

"In 1968, a study carried out by the psychologist Robert Zajonc proved that there is a close link between familiarity and our way of judging: the more we know something or someone, the more we like it, and vice versa.".

  • Ignorance

“Ignorance and lack of information towards other ethnicities and cultures. Know, doubt, contrast information and, above all, respect diversity, are good advice to avoid racial discrimination ”.

  • Ideology

“Throughout history there have been currents of thought based on the segregation of people and the inferior treatment towards certain groups. These are ideologies that, today, are far from having eradicated ”(Rodríguez Pecino, 2020, p. 1)

  • Socio -economic circumstances

The disadvantageous result of Germany after World War I left a country marked by poverty, inequality and unemployment. One in four Germans had no job. The promises of "bread and work" of the Nazi regime, as well as a propaganda aimed at blaming the Jewish people of all problems, joined many Germans in the face of an alleged common enemy to hate to hate. (Rodríguez Pecino, 2020, p. 1)

The University of Los Andes conducted a practical study in Bogotá. The experiment consisted of creating 16 fictitious profiles in resumes. In them they included different variables such as skin color, place of residence, city of origin and sex, among others. For nine weeks, 854 resumes were sent to the different classified services.

As a result, it was observed that in the “skin color” variable, 19 % of white people received a positive response to their request, against only 9 % of Afros, although it is also known that the presentation, experience and others areAn important factor to be selected, however, it is evident that the fact of being black skin remains a factor against.

He concludes by saying that the president and the Minister of Labor must work in union to be able to combat this problem that affects Afros people in Colombia. It is arbitrary to make new rules both to protect the Afro -Colombian population and to seek and implement racial equality. In Colombia, labor discrimination has not been well studied or characterized for the adoption of public intervention and correction policies.

Mestizos obtain a remuneration of approximately 71%, while for Afro -descendant people, the chances of having medium and high quality jobs are reduced by around 1.5% and that is where the possibility of having a jobof poor quality in 2.8.

conclusion

He concludes by saying that public policies for closing racial gaps should be included that promote the linking of Afro -descendant people to the labor relations system, salary equity and overcoming traditional racist patterns in the workplace. Racism and labor inequality is something that has always been evidence.

This project will be developed quantitative and qualitative research methods, since statistics from the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) will be studied and analyzed, the Racial Discrimination Observatory (ODR) in addition to surveys with the question, do you think that thecomplexion is an impediment to accessing a job?, And, likewise, experts will be discussed on the subject, which will give us their opinion on the problem that today affects Afro -descendant citizens in the country.

Proposals
