Then it turns out to be of the utmost importance to seek and plant possible solutions to this problem, which leads us to the approach; It is possible to reduce the number of street sales points in Santa Marta, offering low -cost venues sellers.
To address this issue it is necessary to be clear that street trade is a complex and difficult issue, because thousands of people even whole families depend on informal trade as a livelihood of life. Therefore, pretending to finish or reduce street sales is not a simple task and much less is something that can be achieved overnight. This panorama indicates that a solution in which new jobs are offered in large companies is not a viable solution for the decrease in street workers, the solution we are looking for must be more focused on allowing them to continue working in the field that are trained or trained Informal trade are currently working, only that now the difference is that they will not be found in the streets, but that it would be sought that these have their premises and commerce positions that comply with the current health standards stipulated by law.
But the solution is not simple as inviting or forcing them to move to a commercial premises, because in the first instance there is no supply of commercial premises available for the amount of demand that is presented and secondly if we assume that if there are the number of premises That the majority of sellers are required cannot afford the value of the lease of these commercial premises, so the solution we are looking for is not as simple as a campaign in which the street vendors of the city are invited to leave the streets and search for fixed places to carry out their commercial activities.
The answer we are looking for is more a political issue than something else, what we must seek is that government entities, such as governorates or mayors support and support the transition process of street vendors on the street to jobs offered by The Government, that is, the government must dispose of commerce centers in which it offers premises or commercial positions to the street vendors of the city, the difference of these premises with any others offered by individuals is that these being from the government will seek plus the well -being of the community than the own enrichment. Then the solution we are looking for apart from being viable must be above all sustainable, that for both the State and for the common seller they are guaranteed that they can prosper with the initiative.
With this initiative it is expected to help improve the economy in the city of Santa Marta, in addition to better the quality of life of street vendors while clearing the public space. This proposal is also expected to be used as a frame of reference for other cities in the country, so that in all the cities of Colombia, street trade begins to be taken as something serious and initiatives or alternatives are proposed to deal with this problem in all the Cities of Colombia.
