Porfiriato in the history of the nineteenth and twentieth century in Mexico

Porfiriato marked the history of the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the twentieth century in Mexico. Porfirio Díaz made this fundamental historical period to understand and reflect the modern and contemporary history of Mexico. The facts that highlighted and marked this period have been compiled so that the reading public has in their hands the quick and simple consultation of a character and events, which clearly markedly marked the country.

In this historical stage there were great contrasting changes, because, in Mexico important positive changes were made, including various technological advances. These great changes guaranteed social peace, after much of the life of Mexico of the twentieth century had been dominated by anarchy, the rebellions of the people, foreign interventions and political and even financial crises. Also, the great effort made by Díaz’s government to foster national wealth made. On the other hand, Mexico suffered setbacks, mainly in the social sphere, which the Mexican revolution began.

One of the most important and highlighting events of this stage was the investment that was made in infrastructure, this with the aim of modernizing the country. In the nineteenth century, the railroad was a symbol of an economic improvement and was one of the most valuable goals of the Government of Díaz and its time.

In this period, various telephone lines were created, changing communications nationwide. Díaz promoted the progress of agriculture, mining and commerce, million dollar investments arrived from abroad. On the other hand, Porfirio Díaz’s absolutism was increased during this stage. Created a reform that canceled the limitations for presidential reelections, in order to govern the country a number of years that at that time would be unknown. Also, he promoted European culture, especially French.

Finally, Porfirio explained that it was not possible5%, a very small figure for the 30 years that was in Mexican power. Thanks to this country it became less socially stable, the population really was no more cultured or prepared, and that gave consequence to the Mexican revolution, in its beginnings the nation wanted Porfirio out of power, because the country was poor, they have no freedomof press and there was labor exploitation. Porfirio always put power first, never respect democracy or citizens’ rights.

To contextualize a little about him, he started the Mexican revolution, we can then say that 95% of the natives had been taken from their lands. Likewise, he ignored when he was talking about slavery that he was present in much of the country, he did not care that women and children died for long working days. For things like these, various social uprisings broke out among which the Canaanite strike stands out where the workers rebel against the mining industry and that of Río Blanco that took place in Veracruz, where workers in a textile factory demanded a better salary and betterLabor conditions.

Although at that time there were many black pages, not everything was dark during the porfiriato, since General Díaz brought great technological advances in the media, art, electric light, cinema and other things in whichIt highlights the railroads in Mexico, building thousands of kilometers throughout the country and facilitating the means to send products, as well as the transfer of people.

The time, thanks to its technological advances, lifted the country economically and somehow did not let the situation fall completely after the Mexican Revolution, that is why the progress that was obtained was fundamental in the history of the country. Porfirio Díaz was important in the political sphere, but also in the economic one and although he has made mistakes, the successes he managed were the ones that really marked the course of the country for the next 100 years possibly. The reality is that it reaches a boom without comparison in history, especially in the economic field
