PHARMACY: The essential health sector for the economy

The health sector is an essential part of the productive and social economy of advanced countries, it is a generator of wealth and employability. Its high interdependence with other strategic and global markets, make their design chain make the industry a first -order innovation.

In the last 40 years this well -being economy has been the sector with faster growth in Europe and America. The health industry is present in all forms and processes of globalization and services, as well as its production factors. Investment in research and development in pharmaceutical products and biotechnology has not been significantly affected despite the economic crisis.

Pharmaceutical input represents more than 50 % of the assets that are generated in the "health industry", and its growth being overwhelming in sales volume and economic results. The global financial crisis and its effects on the economy of companies have not represented significant changes in their profitability in the pharmaceutical sector. In addition, their benefit ratios on their own resources remain high and sustainable compared to other strategic sectors of the economy.

The growth process of this industry is due to a connection of factors such as: the consolidation of long -term fixed assets;the competitive consistency of their global strategies;the continued operational benefit on sales and investment;as well as the ability to influence the decisors of the sector and its efficient network that reaches all areas and levels of health action.

Biomedicine -based companies is today one of the most visible approaches to economic and social development of modern economies. Undoubtedly, this sector of the social economy requires both national and international regulation, transparent and socially responsible prices policies, public guarantees to shield industrial property and an innovation system.

The pharmaceutical industry has its own structural and market uncertainties, derived from the expiration of the property rights of certain leading drugs in sales, the uncertain portfolio of inputs in the process of investigation, the increase in the use of biosimilar drugs, the pressure to theLow of the price of biological medicines.

But on science and technique they depend a good part of the solutions to the health needs of people and populations, and how innovation is promoted and manages the creation of new competitive emerging pharmaceutical markets. All these changes that seek greater competitiveness and added value in biomedical innovation processes are generating a new business model adapting structures, competences and dynamics of collaboration with all the agents that are integrated into the value chain of the health sector.
