Personal reflection: Documentary about Joseph Stalin
The first fact that caught my attention was Stalin’s past. I learned that in his youth, Banks stole and along with his "gang" he stole a quarter of a million Russian rubles and left forty dead guards. This caught my attention since since he was young he looks his ambition and his evil. From the beginning it was a threat but it was underestimated and that way he could get the power he longed for. As they mentioned in the documentary, Stalin had an acute thought and was always a thief with a strategic but cynical mind. He could use this logic he had since he was young to defeat his enemies and those people who thought different from him. This can be compared to Hitler’s life since these cruel leaders who reigned with terror had a dark past;a past in which there was an omen of their actions to take. At first he was a simple thief but if measures had been taken on time, he could have avoided the death of millions of people, purged by the eager of power of someone who did not respect human life.
Another fact that caught my attention from the documentary, was the fact that Stalin was able to reach Western capitalist countries in terms of modernization and industrialization. As mentioned in the documentary, the country went from producing seven hundred trucks to more than 100,000 in just 10 years. Although Stalin’s revolution helped the Soviet Union to join industrialization, this also did it through cruelty and fear. Many people, mainly the peasants, wanted to protect their lands but about five million people were killed by the fact that they did not want to be part of Stalin’s industrialization. What catches my attention is like someone who has the ability to enlarge the world from his brilliant mind, he can be so cruel and can focus on evil. Although Stalin has done good things, his perverse acts opaque them. It is sad that you use your mind for such cynical things when you could potentiate your skills for the creation of a better world.
Another fact that caught my attention was the way Stalin terrorized the military to fight. I feel this was a sign of the fear of Stalin’s failure and his longing so that he had for power. Apart from that he was cruel to them, he threatened those who wanted to surrender with the fact that their families were going to be deprived of any state aid. Another example that shows the way he was afraid of failure was when he spoke with Nikita and told him that he should be ashamed of himself for thinking about defeat and that he had to continue fighting or he would take care of him to do so. Basically, Stalin wanted to get what he wanted at the expense of others, terrorizing the one who crossed his way, abusing loyalty and creating a false idea that by patriotism they had to abandon everything and expose themselves. He washed their mind and threatened them only to reach their goal;I played with people’s mind and got pleasure from the pain of others.
Another fact that caught my attention was the fact that Hitler assumed that the Russians were weak and that the Bolshevik regime was going to collapse easily but it was completely the opposite. Stalin from a young age was underestimated, to Hitler underestimated him but what he failed to understand was that Stalin was going to be the leader who would weaken the German troops most. This can be seen in the battle of the Brest strength since the Germans thought they were going to capture it in one day. The truth is that eight days were delayed and a few hundred Russians living in bad conditions managed to end thousands of Germans, more than they had lost in a month of battle against France. I am impressed that Hitler has faced them simply because he believed that the State was unstable because it was governed by "Jewish Bolsheviks", but I did not expect these lower peasants as he called them were almost going to destroy. In the battle of Stalingrad, after several days fighting, the troops of the Soviet Union managed to surround the Germans which exhausted their supplies and the troops died of hunger and cold. Hitler was so involved in his anti -Semitist thoughts, that he believed that they were all inferior and that no one could with him, but clearly the Soviet Union demonstrated otherwise. Both leaders had an yearning for power and a thought of superiority so great, that they made transcosedental mistakes for their nation.
Finally, the last fact that caught my attention was the friendship that arose between Stalin and Churchill. This caught my attention since after so much tension and problems between the British Empire and the Soviet Union, I would not have thought that such a personal conversation would have sat down to have. Although I believe that this conversation with drinks and food arose from a double sense of Stalin to get what he wanted, it generates curiosity that they have ended up giving each other fulfilled over their countries and that they have quickly formed a friendshipAfter all tensions. It can be said that this marked an important moment in World War II since two important leaders joined with the aim of winning the war;It was Hitler’s end.
