Paranormal activity and their periods
Introduction
The paranormal is something that occurs outside of reality or what cannot be explained with science as its name indicates is something that is out of the ordinary. Scientists often call these inexplicable situations as pseudoscience that could match false science. I have chosen this issue because it seems very interesting and it is something that has greatly influenced throughout history and that without it, our day would be very different.
The paranormal can say that it was born a long time ago with our ancestors, of the old beliefs of humanity that have been clearly telling that they have varied throughout history called myths. In these, mythological beings such as ogros, dragons or gods appear and tell stories that can be totally fictitious or have part of reality. Man distinguishes himself from other animals for his intelligence and ability to reason.
Thanks to this he has been able to give solutions to things that seemed magic although they were natural like lightning or even fire. From the beginning all these “magical” things that occurred were caused by divine intervention or by shamans or witches that thanks to their invocations managed to produce. That is where the myths of the need to understand, not to fear. Subsequently these feelings to fear strangers were reflected in painting, sculpture … although they had a myth or legend behind. The easiest case to see is that of the Gorgon Medusa a character in the Greek mythology of the most famous.
It was one of the three gorgons with snakes in the head and the ability to turn anyone who looked into her eyes into stone. While this character has a myth behind, it was also created for other purposes. One of them can be to see fear directly to the eyes, have it controlled to put it in some way, since people looking at her felt intimidation, but they felt safe because that could not do anything to them. There is also the theory that the jellyfish symbolized for the Greeks the evil character of every woman, representing the demon woman, mother of death and the dark side of femininity. After all, this is what myths were created for the entertainment and manipulation of society.

Middle Ages:
The Middle Ages was a dark era full of superstitions and that many of them were closely related to the Church and religion in general. Already at that time many believed that if there was something good like God, there was also something bad. From that thought all these speculation of witches, elves, magic fairy … although other absurd ones such as the rabbit leg were lucky or anything that was passed through their heads also appeared. I think that at this time the first cognitive biases already appeared. These are casual illusions that consist of the illusory perception of a cause-effect relationship where there are only coincidences. It is for example like putting on a red shirt one day and finding money down the street, this is a simple chance, not only for wearing a red shirt you will find money yes or yes or yes. Well, in medieval times it was the same. People related any chance to something else that ends up symbolizing it.
Baroque:
The Baroque was a cultural, scientific, technological, philosophical, political, economic period … although it is probably in art where the weather of the moment is best illustrated. It was at this time where art had a great splendor became dynamic, theatrical, effective, seeks to surprise, astonish … The Baroque is also characterized by exaggerating many situations such as poverty and leading them to the limit in some authors.
An artist who has caught my attention is Salvator Rosa, from Italian origin. In his works you can clearly see that exaggeration of the moment in a gloomy way showing supernatural elements. This work is called the temptation of San Antonio. Salvator had a great love of painting witchcraft or ultratumba scenes. They always had an evil character such as the hallucinations of hermit Antonio Abad, fantastic creature source of inspiration for Dalí.
Illustration:
The illustration period led to a great change in the thought of society, since the ignorance of humanity was dissipated through knowledge and reason. At this time there were great wars, political changes … and all that was reflected in the works of the artists. An example is Goya’s black paintings. He is living a complicated situation, the War of Independence. The French troops are entering Spain and the Aranjuez mutiny occurs, leaving the entire royal family of Spain.
Goya’s position before the French Revolution is totally patriotic, for the defense of national freedom. Faced with this situation, he flees to a house near the Manzanares river that will be the place of the birth of these paintings “La Quinta del Sordo”. These works by Goya reflect their mood, although also the Spanish situation. An example is Saturn devouring a child. It is a intimately gloomy work that represents the French sweeping with the Spanish people, a vision of war.
This work is related to the subject, since it shows a scene of cannibalism, something out of the ordinary at that time. There are many more in which skulls, witches or people with goat heads can be observed. They are surreal things that impact a lot. Goya is one of many artists of the Enlightenment, but this movement was characterized by this type of works that denied those myths and legends with the reason to end human ignorance of that time.
Zdzisław Beksiński:
At present there are also works related to paranormal things, investigating I have found a contemporary artist who has caught my attention. His name is Zdzisław Beksioski1. His works could be summarized in the phrase "The dream of reason produces monsters", a phrase that was created by Goya and expresses the deep universe of dreams brought to reality. The Second World War lived, a very hard time and that opened his eyes. The reality for him was very hard and decided to take refuge in his dreams.
He said: "Paint in the same way as if you were photographing dreams". Began by manufacturing sculptures of plaster, thread and metal and apart paintings with bleak landscapes. I managed to sell almost all their works in an exhibition and there they realized their great potential. Subsequently it began with the abstract, surreal painting and with apocalyptic landscapes. It became the maximum of representative of the art of Poland. He was nicknamed "the nightmare painter". These works have no name, just grouped them into what he called monstrous dreams. Some had no name, since they were very personal for him or others who had no value and considered them miserable.
Impossible figures:
The impossible figures were created by Oscar Reutersvard. He in class was dedicated to drawing regular figures on the banks of his notebooks, until he reached a strange figure that made no sense. These impossible figures are a series of imaginary objects because their construction in the three known dimensions cannot be given. They are represented by drawings and subsequently sculptures. One of the greatest exponents was Maurits Cornelis Escher with drawings that seem super difficult to draw and see. These figures enter into the paranormal, since they are not realities, they are rather illusions that play with their minds and are inexplicable.
Paranormal Tokyo:
Now we have only seen sculpture and painting, but lately the way of scaring people is through videos. I would like to talk about “Tokyo Paranormal” 2, this is a series of videos created by two French people called Yves Montmayeur and Stéphane du Mennildot. These men made this 50 -minute program for creative art. Ten parts, like ten horrible stations of a ghost train called Japan.
Tokyo Paranormal offers an overview of this fascinating and scary parallel universe, telling stories reviving old Japan and its characteristics legends. The praise to statues of gods, the ouija or even praying would include them within this.
To conclude I would like to say that based on what I have learned doing this job, the paranormal has really been created by humanity, it is not something that already existed, but it was created because they had to believe in something, but many things did not haveExplanation and that terrified them. In addition, dreams have been very influential in this also because in themselves, they have no explanation and that reflected in various ways, for works, as a vision.
