Introduction

Pain is defined as a sensory or emotional experience associated with a hypistic lesion that can be real or potential. According to pathophysiology, the types of pain are:

1.- Nociceptive pain:

Also called normal or physiological pain, it occurs due to somatic or visceral lesion, that is, it is a physiological response to an aggression.

1.1.- Somatic pain: it is a localized pain, it is due to leather injuries, muscles, joint capsules, and bones.

1.two.-Visceral pain: It is a colic pain, occurs due to a dysfunction or injury of an internal organ, is characterized by being diffuse and usually extended to territories away from the site of the lesion.

1.3.-Referred pain: it is characterized by feeling the pain in regions away from the area of origin. An example of this type of pain is in myocardial infarction, since pain refers to left arm.

1.4.-Irradiated pain: It is produced by an irritation of the trunk or nerve root, that is, the pain is transmitted along the nerve from the site of origin. An example of this type of pain is when the sciatic nerve is affected, here the pain extends by the back of the leg.

two.- Neuropathic pain:

Also called abnormal or pathological pain, it occurs due to an injury and alteration that affects the somatosensory system.

3.- Inflammatory pain:

This pain appears after an injury that has triggered an inflammatory response, which is characterized by the presence of blush, heat, edema and pain.

This occurs after an injury to the muscle or its fibers, which can be direct as in trauma, fatigue due to excessive exercise and ischemia.

5.- Iatrogenic pain:

This pain is caused by a doctor as a result of a treatment provided to the patient, usually occurs after surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy.

6.- Psychogen pain:

This is of a psychosomatic nature, is presented in people suffering from depression, anxiety, etc. This pain is characterized by being resistant to treatment is pharmacological or not.

According to the duration:

1.- Acute pain:

This type of pain is of limited time, it is suddenly onset and its duration is less than three months, its remission is parallel to the cause of the same.

Examples: burns pain, post operative pain, musculoskeletal pain such as tendonitis and visceral pain.

two.- Chronic pain:

This type of pain extends beyond the lesion, its duration is greater than three months, this can be nociceptive, neuropathic or both, the psychological component is included.

Examples: osteoarthritis, cancer, trigeminal neuralgia, etc.

According to the course or evolution:

1.- Continuous pain:

This persists throughout the day. It can have an increase or decrease in its intensity.

two.- Episodic pain:

In this type of pain there are periods in what is present and others in which. It can be of three types:

two.1.-Incidental: associated with some activity such as walking, coughing, etc.

two.two.-Intermittent: appears spontaneously without any cause.

two.3.-Dose failure: it appears before taking an analgesic due to the decrease in the concentration of the same.
