Online education and its myths

Introduction

According to the study text, there are several myths that allow to infer that online education is not the same as face -to -face education and that nothing can replace the teacher in the classroom, and that interacts with the student by transferring their experience and knowledge, however, do youHow true is this?

Developing

The technological evolution applied to education has evolved dynamically, teaching thousands of people allowing accessibility and quality education.

  • Myth to academic integrity, this refers to the fact that students online have more facilities to cheat than face -to -face students.
  • The connectivity between students would not exist in the context of a community, online learning would be lonely and disconnected.
  • The decrease in the importance of the teacher, that is, their role decreases as virtual learning increases.

But I want to stop in a specific myth that is the concept of the quality of online education vs. Face -to -face education. This myth is immersed in the culture of our country, online courses are of low quality no one can replace the teacher in the classroom.

But this is false according to the academic Eliana Losardo graduated in Education Sciences (UBA) specialist in Virtual Education Environments, who states “the virtual environment allows us to think to the one who guides learning as a facilitator and being responsible for promoting dialogueand interaction ". Online education breaks with the scheme of the traditional form of education where someone crossed knowledge and the other listened. You have to think about virtual environments as true learning communities.

According to community in article published on its website called “myths of online education” it indicates that there are no reasons for an online course to be a lower quality than a face -to -face, since everything is based on the academic structure of the course development of the course, this includes the faculty, the tools used to measure teaching, in relation to the content most of the time identical to the face -to -face content, what changes is the means that is delivered this content and obviously and the most important thing is thestudent participation.

conclusion

From my point of view, the quality of education goes through several factors, first to make a good selection of the content, it has to be relevant and differentiator and aligned to the objectives to be developed, it is also important to which segment we are going to develop that content, andChoose appropriate resources.

Today there is a great opportunity to use digital tools in Post of a quality, economical and accessible education, in the contingency that our country is living, it is necessary to enhance virtual education and that is not only a consumer good but alsoa social good, which allows all quality education, but mainly to the most vulnerable socio -economic groups.
