News: Podcasting in primary school

Introduction

Given the poor results obtained in the diagnostic tests of 3rd and 6th grade in the aspects of oral and written understanding and expression, and given the lack of general motivation to the instrumental subjects, we seek to present this research project demonstrate that, favoring saidLearning from the 2nd cycle of early childhood education, these results would improve ostensibly.

In order to better control this evolution, this research project will be applied in a single line of the Madrid community with 3, 4 and 5 -year -old classrooms, with the collaboration of its tutors and the active participation of the entire cloister. We will rely on a methodology that is especially motivating for our students, where the protagonists are them. For this reason we have chosen for our project a very special work tool, a school radio, something that, thanks to new technologies, has become easily affordable through podcasts.

But what is podcasting? Podcasting is the distribution of podcasts through the Internet, audio files in MP3 format that are uploaded to different platforms in the networks, from where they can be heard and/or downloaded, at any time or place, while having a connectionto Internet. 

Since its origin in 2004, this new online radio format has been growing rapidly, allowing a novel form of communication and revolutionizing the bases of "foot journalism", generating a revolution in the media. The economy and simple and affordable technical requirements allow to put this system available to everyone, even of institutions so restricted in terms of technological resources, such as schools.

The purpose of the podcasting project consists in establishing relationships between the world of education and radio, working different aspects of the language area in a functional and dynamic way, through radio activities. The purpose is to look.

It also seeks to favor and improve the vocalization of our students and the enrichment of the vocabulary used, which will result in the future reading expression. With the radio you will learn to listen, to discuss, to share, to express yourself in short, develop oral expression, improve communication possibilities Use speech as a strategic tool and plan what to say, are some of the issues pursued with this project. It is sought that students investigate, organize ideas and know how to express them with a logical and coherent conductive thread, using the voice as a communicative and persuasion instrument, before a real audience.

Jiménez believes that including ICT in schools is a way to create a different school. In addition, he affirms that the realization of radio programs is a good way for media education. Radio is also a project that contributes decisively to the improvement of social inclusion, both for students with some type of disability and for those belonging to groups at risk of exclusion, reflected in the diversity of the educational community, thus becoming aimportant integration agent.

This project allows a really enriching school-family work in which the entire community, the social environment of the neighborhood can be encompassed. The classrooms, the works, projects, not only of children, but of the whole center, can find here a path of visibility towards their environment, and vice versa, giving answers to the needs of the families themselves through the organization of different sections toparent school or recommendations. In short, it is about giving voice to all, having bridges and facilitating full and effective participation in a highly digitized society.

In addition, the need for authentic digital and media literacy, including the compression of a highly globalized world, leads us to these bridges extend further, taking advantage of current technology to contact other schools in Spain, in Europe and evenon other continents, in order to adjust to real knowledge, tangible and accessible to students, bringing them to other realities away from their most immediate environment. What better way to work the oral language than speaking? And is there anything more motivating for a child than "exit" on the radio of his school?
