Negative aspects of technology in society

Technological advances are currently a fundamental part of the development of our daily lives. In many cases it has allowed us to give quick and efficient solution to a number of problems, especially in long -distance communication matters, which some years ago would have been difficult. Sending and receiving messages using mobile devices, or when navigating the Internet, represents a significant advantage if we compare it with traditional communication methods. In this sense, technology facilitates life and allows us to focus on other matters. However, use and dependence has generated in the human being, such addiction by technology and its media, that a notable deterioration in both social and rational skills is evidenced. This spreads rapidly and evolves day by day, transforming the environment in which we live, into a kind of virtual reality, since people disconnect from reality.

A few years ago, access to technology was limited, and it was not so diffusion as today. It is almost impossible, not seeing in large cities, a person manipulating a cellular device or a computer, either at home, work or on public roads. It is evident that there is a negative influence, focused mainly on adolescents and young people, since it reduces their abilities to communicate naturally and spontaneously because they spend less time sharing and interacting with other people.

For Rubio and Minor (2009), adolescents undergo changes in the way of forming their own concept, since they adopt access to the network as an option to face the world, jointly influencing the population that coincides with values that are typical ofyouth. What the authors themselves call the youth of society.

We will approach then, a series of negative aspects that have developed over the last years, basically focusing on the use and manipulation of technological advances and that are rampiving the abilities of the human being.

While in certain that, in the academic relationship, both in the development of activities and in the form of teaching, important advances have been generated, the impact of deterioration on the search for information has also been suffered. Students frequently resort to the Internet to complement their school work. Many times, it is only enough to digit a couple of words to have access to a number of web pages that offer answers and solutions, but that do not contemplate a solid precision or veracity reference.

According to Garitaonandia and Garmendia (2007), adolescents use the Google search engine as a means to develop academic work and thus access information, they also usually use Wikipedia and Encarta encyclopedias.

They also develop peculiar ways of presenting their work, such as the already known formula "cut and paste" that drastically reduces the process of information analysis and carefree from better preparing their jobs.

Internet is useful when the improvement of academic performance is broad and information is shared in formal teaching. However, the use of the population is not balanced, since it contrasts with the skills that those that come from economically high strata develop. Castaño-Muñoz (2010).

Those who use the Internet for leisure or distraction issues will have worse academic results than those who use it to develop academic work, since they have less time for use.

Albero (2002) states that there are two forms of Internet access. A job linked to leisure, which is projected naturally, and another, to the search for selected and processed information consciously, and that develops creativity.

In addition, technology also influences the use of the faculties of reasoning and resolution of mathematical problems, since they are leaving students not obsolete and capable. If we mention, for example, the use of calculators in students to solve basic school exercises, we would see that there is a dependency towards devices and a total lack in the thinking process.

If we start from the fact that, the use and manipulation by young people, it is generating serious inconveniences, we must point out that it has become a complete addiction. Teenagers, generally, being in contact with technological devices, have developed multiple capacities, since they tend to perform numerous tasks at the same time. For example, they check the cell phone, sending messages or checking emails while watching television. This could be interpreted as a positive factor that stands out in them, but it is not so, but the ability to focus its attention to a specific activity is limited. Which could affect its performance in the academic field and health itself. Because, most young people spend hours and hours checking their cell phones or glued to a computer, leave aside other recreational and rest activities. For example, many young people lie at night at night due to paying more attention to telephone devices, producing that sleep is interrupted and thus generating a deficit in everyday work. Often accompanied by strong ocular tension and possible damage to sight.

There are also other effects such as stress and depression, since being immersed in a virtual space, interpersonal relationships leave aside. Little by little, a state of loneliness and emptiness is evident, which is difficult to find exit if it is not through professional help.

As for interpersonal relationships and the development of social life, they are also affected by technology. Young people, by dedicating their attention to the devices (cell phones in this case), become more vulnerable and represent a risk.

This part of the population is the highest risk, since they have at their disposal the so -called social networks, and in general many virtual tools that allow them to expand their affective reactions (Choliz, 2009).

Especially if we mention its development in society, we would say that such a level of distraction occurs, which often produces alterations with other people. A young man who walks distracted by the street, listening to music with his headphones and his vision focused on his mobile apparatus, can be the cause of his own physical integrity. Even when driving a car, many people take advantage of an entertainment while they stop their vehicles to the order of traffic lights, and do not focus on the activity they are developing. Both parties, are the cause of the accidents that we see daily on the covers of the newspapers.

Currently, distance communication has been improved efficiently. At the same time that the distances are shortened, the vicinity moves away. Communication in the family has been reduced in the midst of so much technology. It has become strange, distant and cold, since families talk less than before. Which leads us to think that, if so, the family breast would become a cave, full of simple entities dominated by technological devices and where there is no place for a tiny footprint of humanity.

Technological advances bring the outbreak and development of new communication links. For example, social networks have penetrated so much in society, that practically the majority of the population is connected to these spaces.

A social network becomes a structure made up of people or entities that connect to each other, maintaining a common relationship (Ponce, 2012).

Social networks also generate negative aspects, since people approach it to achieve an output or acceptance among the public, adopting fashion stereotypes, economic status, etc.

Many young people adopt social networks as a fundamental part of their social life, because they not only use it as independent services, but by capturing all kinds of publications, they are changing their way of thinking, of behaving and communicating.

Often that technology progresses, new social networks appear that attract youth and allow them to be linked specifically, sharing among them specific concerns and orientations. What generates in them is to establish contacts that share some interests in common. So it is that, you share personal information, work activities and everyone has free access to obtain such data.

This can be a serious effect that often goes unnoticed in youth that is not only aware of its acceptance in society, but also is not aware of its vulnerability. By having easy access to personal information that is disclosed in social networks, many people are victims of harassment, robbery and even kidnappings.
