Most productive milk cows races

Dairy cows are raised specifically to produce large amounts of milk. These races usually give birth to a young per year and produce milk for 10 months. They are generally inseminated artificially within three months after childbirth. These breeds of milk cows, as they are usually called, are productive for three years, after that period they are sacrificed and the meat is normally used for commercial sale as beef.

The breeds of milk cows are those that produce large volumes of milk for a longer period than other cows. These are some of the best known:

  1. Holstein. Originally from Holland, the Holstein cow is a robust animal and has large food and developed capres. It is black and white. This breed is widely distributed by Western Europe, Canada, Australia, América and South Africa. They produce an average of 6,500 kg of milk per breastfeeding, it is considered the best milk producer in the world. These cows are quiet and docile.
  2. Swiss Brown. It is one of the largest races, and as the name implies, they are usually solid brown. The Swiss brown cow with a weight of 680 kilograms, is considered the greatest and most strong. Produces more than 8000 liters of milk per year. Supporting large temperature changes in Swiss Alps, their place of origin.
  3. Guernese. This breed originated on the island of Guernesey. It is beige with white spots. These cows are popular for their special gold color, due to the large amounts of beta -carotene that is a source of vitamin A. It has been discovered that this vitamin reduces the risk of contracting certain cancers. They weigh about 500 kilograms and produce approximately 7000 liters of milk per year.
  4. SHORHOR MILK. With origin in Britain. Shorthorn milking is a strong and durable cattle with high levels of fertility and grazing efficiency. They also have many desirable health features that make them very versatile for several production environments. It has an average weight of 550 kilograms and produces more than 7000 liters per year of milk.

 

World milk production

Worldwide there are about 270 million cows that produce milk. The European Union is the largest milk producer with 23 million dairy cows. Thus, dairy consumption levels are increasing in the world, even China that was one of the countries with less consumption now has more than 12 million milk cows.
