Morality and religion in contemporary society

Since the beginning of time morality and religion have remained united, causing certain confusion in the different times, in which morality was understood only as a manifestation of religion or on the contrary religion as a consequence of moralityIn contemporary society, morality depends on religion?

Morality has had religious connotations and that is why many understand by moral the set of norms of behaviors given by a religion, this is how in ancient times there was talk of feudal Christian or moral morals which meant that morally correct behavior was correct it wasBecause God ordered it, leading us to talk about the theory of the divine mandate in which God is contemplated as a legislator, that being that established the norms, and are the ones that must be fulfilled, considering it as morally correct and what was prohibitedGod was morally incorrect. There are some moral codes and moral values in our contemporary societies that historically derive from different religions, but this does not imply that morality always and in a necessary way has derived from religion, according to James Rachels, morality does not depend on religion because the baseTo decide if something is good or bad is reason and not the faith, and the treatment of morality in the Christian faith is subjective, since it does not objectively treat as the science of ethics does.
Culture leans to differentiation, acquiring knowledge about moral. Something similar happens in individual life: the child begins accepting the orders and norms of his parents, but there comes a time when he wonders why they send him this and prohibit him that.(Vélez Correa, 2003)
It is here a point without return in the collection of morality and still, still today, a huge challenge. Assume that we are correct with all consequences requires rethinking relations between religion and moral. And, as in all critical disagreement, temptation is to go to extreme positions.

Finally, we agree with James Rachels since morality depends on the logical rationing and does not depend on religion;They are independent terms that each person after her life will develop and adapt them to her own personality and ideals.
