Introduction
First, Mexico is officially called Mexican United States, and is located in the southern part of North America. Politically, it is a democratic, representative, federal and secular republic formed by 32 free and sovereign states (31 states and the Federal Capital) that make up a federation based on the principles of its constitution. As article 49 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States dictates, the Supreme Power of the Federation is divided for its exercise in legislative, executive and judicial. Mexico City is the Federal Capital, and in accordance with the other states, it deposits its local powers in a head of government, a Congress and a superior court, with the difference that its demarcations lack the City Council. Finally, it should be noted that in Mexico there are a total of 2466 municipalities.
Political parties in Mexico, as in the rest of democratic countries, are the main entity of citizen participation, regulated by autonomous electoral institutions (such as the National Electoral Institute [INE]). In 2019, seven national games were registered in the INE. As for the last federal elections in Mexico, these took place on Sunday, July 1, 2018, renewing the positions in the executive and legislative powers of the Federation until the next elections in 2021. These elections had an exact participation of 56.611.027 voters, of the 89.250.881 citizens who could exercise their vote. The results of the main parties at the national level are the following: More than 25 million votes stood (44.09% of total voters); In second position we find bread, with just under 10 million votes (9.996.514 or 17,658%); Below is the PRI, with more than 7.5 million votes (13.56%); Fourth we have the PT, with 3.396.805 votes and covering 6% of the total votes.
