Media in Venezuela

Introduction.

The media in Venezuela began, in September 1808, with the arrival of the printing press. Brought from the island of Trinidad by artisans Matthew Gallagher and James Lamb. The first form was La Gaceta de Caracas, on October 24, 1808, having the editor Andrés Bello. Sporadically, newspapers published in other places arrived, such as La Gaceta de Madrid.

The Caracas Gazette was the first newspaper produced and printed in the territory, from October 24, 1808 to January 3, 1822. Reflected the opposing views of the realists or Republicans who exercised power in Caracas during the War of Independence. The printing press extended to cities like Cman.

The illustrated press begins in the 1840s, with engravings and lithographs, but acquires great boost towards the end of the 19th century, thanks to the photogravure. At the end of the 1850s, steam is used for printing machines.

Developing.

With the arrival of the submarine cable to the Venezuelan coasts in the 1890s, information receptions with the outside were expedited. Its economic support base (as in the other contemporary media) is found in advertising. During the government of Juan Vicente Gómez, radio transmissions begin in Venezuela, adding as a means of social communication. The first broadcast was made on May 23, 1926 from Caracas and was also heard in several populations of the interior.

From 1936 to around 1950 there was a rebirth of the political press, with spokesmen of movements or political parties such as the Orve newspapers, now, the country, the graphic, popular tribune (which were in certain informative cases). After the year 1958, new newspapers appeared until well into the 1980s, and then disappear due to the high print and periodic paper costs. On November 22, 1952, a new medium bursts into Venezuela with the broadcast of the Venezuelan state television station, located in Caracas (although regular program began on January 1, 1953).

The concentration of television channels in Caracas and the elaboration of messages oriented to meet what happens, motivated the regions to undertake initiatives that allow them to install public service television stations according to their needs. Teleboconó was the pioneer in regional television stations, with a coverage that increased until the entire Trujillo state and surrounding regions reached.

Conclusions.

The Venezuelan press has been adapting to new technologies to improve its reception and writing processes;Panorama was the first newspaper whose drafting staff wrote on computers (1991), the column was the first newspaper to use personal computers (1989), the National was the first to connect to the Internet network and to place an electronic edition availableand noti-express, the first newspaper born online. The media have increased, continue and continue to grow. Radio, press, cinema, television, satellite reception, computers, video cassette;Now the internet, social networks, podcasts and streaming.
