Los Beatles in Spain in 1965, memorable event

In July 1965, the Beatles spent three days in Spain, gave two concerts, one in Madrid and another in Barcelona, in total 24 songs that their followers enjoyed the fullest. A great show that the regime tried to limit to a simple unimportant event. However, these concerts received an immense audience that did not go unnoticed.

The Beatles have been qualified by many people as the best music group in history, with very high sales figures and even uploading. Over the years, that position has been held by them, and, today, still no other group has managed to pass them.

The Beatles began on the shore of the Mersey River when two young musicians met in 1957, John Lennon and Paul McCartney, after this, George Harrison joined McCartney’s recommendation. At this time they played in Hamburg, later their fame exploded in Liverpool and London. Then his fame shot the United States.

His manager supported them and managed to boost their success to the maximum. His music was more than simply songs, it was a religion for many. The songs they made have great messages, such as freedom, friendship and love. It can be said that his first album was a failure, but those who came later were an absolute success.

Little by little his music arrived in Spain. This represented great agitation in the musical field in the country, to the point that many hated her and considered that it was a little healthy element for society. His presence was funny to many, but caused dread in others, the media were not benevolent with them, they were rejected for reasons such as wearing electric guitar instead of Spanish, speaking in English and not Spanish or the clothes they wore.

Since the end of 1964, the Beatles have an official fans club in Spain, later a delegation in Valencia is created, their music was bought and sung throughout the country. The businessman Francisco Bermúdez was the one who brought the Beatles to Spain despite all the cons that he had by the authorities.

In both concerts the Beatles acted for half an hour, followed by other famous groups and singers of the time. Young musicians arrived on a conventional flight and were received by a large number of young people and students who longed for their arrival. Many people walk from Madrid to the airport just to appreciate that moment. The authorities did not allow anyone to approach less than five hundred meters from the group, for their safety. The musicians attended to the media and answered many questions asked by people.

On July 2 they were invited to sign some wine barrels with their names at the hotel itself. That same afternoon they gave the only private interview during their stay in the country. After the interview, the Beatles leave the hotel through a service door and go to the Plaza de Toros, where they would act later. This action would be a great challenge for the regime, which feared people to spread of their rhythms and style. At half past eight the concert began. The public did not pay great attention to previous actions, waiting for the appearance of the Beatles. Finally, at 10 they entered the stage and the show began. Due to the screams and emotion of the public, they put their amplifiers at maximum power, making the sound out of low quality, even so, people enjoyed the songs since they were exactly the same ones that they had already heard on the albums. A total of twelve songs sounded that night from this group, not one more, not one less. At the exit, no one had been dissatisfied, however, they did not expect the authorities to be waiting for them and attacked without warning.

The next day they took a flight to Barcelona, in full flight, they were photographed by a young woman. They stayed at the Avenida Palace hotel, went to a press conference and then stayed at the hotel to rest. There they received the same young woman for several hours, who took all the photos he could at that time. That night, the concert began later than that of Madrid, in this case, at eleven less fourth. The situation was repeated, the public did not pay attention to those who preceded the Beatles and waited for their performance. They represented the same repertoire as in Madrid and everyone, despite the low sound quality, enjoyed greatly. Many fans, who did not have money to enter the square, enjoyed the concert from outside.

Thus, the visit of the Beatles to Spain was a great event that marked the lives of many people who will never forget it. Unfortunately, it was something that was never repeated.
