Los Beatles in Spain 1965

The Beatles had fans in Spain, so, in the first days of July, they offered their only concerts in Madrid and Barcelona. The Beatles defend freedom of expression and delivery, so the regime put their efforts to reduce concerts in a mere anecdote. I position myself against the regime attemptHe had Franco.

It was an amazing event that made people change their attitude, and in addition to people, also politicians. The youth was mobilizing but people were afraid to expise it because there were fear of being arrested or even shot. For many people these concerts were the first contact with live and live music in an outdoor enclosure, which was a magical experience. The Beatles, cataloged as the best group in history, sold around six hundred million albums. It all started when two young Liverpool musicians met in 1957. The four practiced more than eight hours in a row on stage having prostitutes and sailors as a public.

Then, they began to explode their fame there, in Liverpool, then their fame passed to London and then arrived in the United States. They changed the order of things and somehow, they remain a factor of change and their music remains a trend today. The Beatles gave off messages of love, freedom, creativity and peace, new sounds, ideas and attitudes. The first album of the Beatles that is published in Spain had a minimum impact, and it was from the publication of another album, which begin to sound in the stations and bars, and as a result of this publication the fans begin to take shapeof the youth groups of that time. The differential factor was the premiere "A Hardest Night", which served for the Spaniards to see how were those singers who were playing so much on the radio. The first film of the group "What a night that of that day", in its Spanish translation, opens on September 14, 1964 in Madrid, which went crazy to the public.

The music of the Beatles, reaches a country that begins to discover, timidly, the seduction of consumption, is the Spain of TVs in installments. Francisco Franco began a development plan to improve the Spanish economy, and because of this the quality of life of the Spaniards improved. The media were not very benevolent towards the music of the Beatles because the fan phenomenon also appears and this by the Francoist authorities, was a little healthy element for Spanish youth since they wanted to prevent the possible contagion from taking place. This presence of the Beatles did not please everyone because the intellectual and social barriers were transferred. The Spanish press criticized them by making offensive jokes on them. While the general media are debated between critics and ridiculization, fan magazines betting on objectivity. Since the end of 1964, BDEATLES have an official fans club in Spain. The news comes through the British weekly, which announces a European tour of Madrid and Barcelona as final scales.

The merit of bringing them is carried awaySpain. In addition to the Beatles there were also several openings and Barcelona’s performance made with the artists themselves. The Beatles were so successful, that even Queen Elizabeth II awarded them as gentlemen of the British Empire order. On July 1, 1965, a Carabel takes land at the Madrid airport, Barajas and fall with the rest of the passengers in an area away from the terminal. Two students, Paco and Pedro, who had to make a documentary for node, decided to make them about the arrival of the Beatles to Spain. When they projected the documentary, they saw that they had done the opposite of what they wanted to do, which was to discredit and reduce the arrival of the Beatles, this same strategy, we found it in printed publications such as the "Vespertino Catalan Telexpress".

The Beatles received a very hot welcome. Two cars pick them up and direct them to the Fénix Hotel and at 8:30 p.m. offered a press conference. After attending the media, the musicians retire to rest, and after midnight the Cordoba makes them a visit with a photographer to portray with the fashion group, but he does not get it. Before the Concerterto, Jose Luis Álvarez, Cueniego a World Exclusive, the first in -depth interview of the Beatles in Spain. After the interview, they leave the hotel through a service door. There are long lines around the bullring and there are police officers on horseback. At 20:30 the concert began and after hours, finally, the Beatles act. They sang in total, twelve songs that in total lasted half an hour, as stipulated in the contract.

The next day the Beatles travel to Barcelona to fulfill their performance. Arrived at the Prat Airport, they received some gifts from the Spanish Fans Club and some monteries that the singer Francisca gives them. The Beatles stay at the Avenida Palace Hotel and after a second press conference, they retire to rest before the concert. Three journalists got an exclusive interview and took pictures, but they never signed to publish. The show in Barcelona began later than in Madrid, at 22:45 at night, when there was a lot of police that intimidated people. Around midnight, the Beatles come out with the same repertoire as in Madrid. Back to the hotel, a customer complains about the noisy party that the boys set up in their room. Hours later they returned to England carrying some Cordoba hats that had taken from Reculerdo.

The Beatles were the turning point in which the regime, so to speak, "threw the towel" and above all that from 68 they began to take hippie fashion, which meant a defeat for the regime. I consider that the music of the Beatles produced a change of mentality in Spain that was very necessary for society, because thus the regime lost its strength.
