Literary review about the incredible and sad story of the candid Eréndira and her heartless grandmother

Before all, we must always start with a small introduction or a summary to understand this literary review a little better. When we barely read the title we can realize that this is the argument. The argument is what the story is about, that is, the author (Gabriel García Marques) summarizes the story with only the title.

From this we can realize that when reading the story we will run into a protagonist and an antagonist.Being the protagonist Eréndira and our "dear" antagonist the heartless grandmother. Eréndira is an unfortunate orphan of only 14 her father left her in the care of her grandmother, in an immense mansion that was located in the middle of nowhere is to say in a desert. Recall that in every worship literature there must be something evil, something that presses our protagonist at all times and that he will see it to such an extent of almost giving up and clearly this story could not be the meaning, the grandmother being the character that does not leaveIn peace to Candida since she starts doing the work of the house as: the general do you of the house, to eat, adjust the watches.

This being the latest task for rendered. One night the grandmother was having dinner, and she was released after a day of hard work and when she was taking the food to her grandmother she fell asleep because Eréndira had a "skill" which was to be able to fall asleep whileTowards your work. It hera a kind of sleepwalking but as her unpleasant grandmother had always forced her to work then she did not sleep but continued working. When her grandmother noticed this, she with a lot of malice shouted !Erendira and when she woke up scared she released the dishes on the carpet to which the grandmother answered-tranquila do not worry before you go to sleep clean the carpet and collect everything- .When Eréndira finished all his jobs and went to sleep did not even have strength to take off his clothes and put on his pajamas. And since the narrator had no longer anticipated the wind of his "misfortune" overturned a candlestick that she forgets to turn off on the curtains which burns the entire house.Dear reader if you thought Eréndira until now was having a bad time, it is nothing compared to what follows her.

After the whole mansion burns the grandmother forces her to pay everything, but how can a girl get money? The grandmother had the answer to this question by finding a "profitable" job for a girl as beautiful as Eréndira who was to start prostituting her, that is, the grandmother forces to pay Cándida literally with body and soulNot everything was lost because our protagonist always tends to have a motivation or a small ray of light in the gloom through which he is happening, in the case of our little protagonist he was a very handsome young man with a face that looks like that of a Greek god, the name of this young man was Ulysses. We must clarify that this is a love story for some characters and for others it is a bitter, heartbreaking, sad story. But it causes us grace, but Richard how it causes us grace if it treats such dreadful songs?

My esteemed answer is logical because having this story things like prostitution, bandits realomniscient, in the third person and takes place in a linear way except when the grandmother has her delusions between dreams and lets us see a small and narrow window to her past, we specifically do not know how long she spends since this Eréndira with 14 years and VirginUntil the end of the book, but if we can see a progressive matures in it a thing that in my opinion is a bit rare or psychological is that in Eréndira we can see a constant struggle inside each other to follow their grandmother or escape since this isvirtually grandmother’s slave. As a personal conclusion about the book I can highlight that it is a good way to start in the world of reading although in my way of seeing Gabo’s literary style is not so easy to understand at the beginning.

But it is a very good book and it is interesting that it treats such common issues in our country as the prostitution of minors but that in turn generate a great touo being this the main reason why it is not a very commented topic. If we realize Gabo’s literary style, it is unmistakable since he has the ability to combine realism with fantasy and write in a very crude way, saying it in “colloquial” terms he writes without hair in the language being sincere and without censoring. And this in my opinion is one of the best things that Gabo has, for this reason it seems to me that it is a spectacular and superb literature that is obviously not suitable for everything public or at least for children. It is not suitable due to its language
