Inverse logistics by the supply chain as a competitive strategy for organizations
The competitiveness of the various markets causes organizations to innovate more and more, to worry about optimizing each of the processes in terms of times and costs, with the sole purpose of benefiting the client and being leaders in the opponent market, this isWhat is intended to be carried out to position an organization within the various markets and thus generate an impact within globalization, but this not only leads to processes optimization to meet a need, this is achieved thanks to the alliance ofStrategic suppliers that work together for the benefit of generating the best quality in each of the links in the supply chain that contributes to the construction of goods and services to meet the customer’s need.
The supply chain is responsible for carrying out all the activities and processes associated with the flow and the transformation of products, it begins from the development of raw materials until the arrival of the final product to the consumer, from that moment the process endedand the responsibility of each of the organizations involved in the transformation of the product.
Usually organizations worked on each of their processes with the sole objective of guaranteeing the best quality in terms of time and cost to meet that need, but do not mediate the environmental impact they were generating due to the lack of social responsibility in the use in the useof natural resources for the production of innovative products for their bidder markets, as there are control rules for environmental protection, which organizations tried to evade this type of law regardless of the consequences that were causing.
This reference point was not important for organizations, but the various types of markets became aware of the environmental impact that was being presented for reasons of their preferences in goods and services of which did not contribute to the protection of natural resources, thanks toThis requirement organizations took the initiative to realize their objectives by putting not only the processes in terms of time, cost if not adding a third item called the protection of natural resources.
The organizations took a new approach by changing their prospects and adopting a new challenge to comply with quality standards and market preferences, the supply chain takes the initiative to unite forces to reduce the impact of their goods, service and processes on theenvironment.
Following this circumstance, the importance within each of the processes is given from the moment of the elaboration of the raw material until after the product satisfies the need, so called this process as inverse logistics.
One of the first responsibilities that was generated with this new ideology is the redefinition of the tasks of the supply chain that were visualized from each of the points of its realization the importance of the environment and its care, but its work no longer endsFrom the moment the product is delivered to the final consumer and that need is satisfied, now the process continues to retake the reuse of that residue after fulfilling its function, generating again the integration of that component into a new material.
Luis Aníbal Mora and Maria Luz Martin Peña define ¨ Inverse logistics manages the return of goods in the supply chain, in the most effective and economical way possible, is responsible for the recovery and recycling of containers, packaging and hazardous waste;as well as the return processes of inventory excesses, customer returns, obsolete products and seasonal inventories, even advances at the end of the product’s useful life, in order to give way in markets of greater rotation¨.
However, reverse logistics is one of the most important factors for the production of a product, but some organizations do not see the importance of implementing this new factor, for them it is more important to plan the logistics of all its processes from all its phases,But reverse logistics is usually highlighted as an expense within the organization but not as a competitive strategy.
Organizations see more reverse logistics and their processes as an expense, but if they plan the implementation of a strategy to contribute to the environment, it will not be seen that way, if non -operational income cannot be generated to the organization contributing to a small marginMonetary, but achieving this benefit is necessary the planning and alignment of the objectives of each organization that are visualized in reverse logistics.
The implementation of reverse logistics is something complex, different parameters must be determined as it is:
- The capacity of the organization, identifying the raw materials that are used for production that may affect the environment and possible change alternatives.
- carry a thorough control and diagnosis of each of the stages of the process.
- The classification of the waste refers to the danger and care that must be used for management, it should be noted that this point is the most important here it is determined if they are directed to the landfill, the incineration or if they are recycled.
- What to do when the product contains a failure, the organization must develop a strategy so that this accident does not differ in the increase in costs, some strategies taken, the realization of a new process to generate it to its state and normal characteristics, to offer it asdiscount product or take the option to donate that little fraction of its production lot.
- Finally a monitoring of the proposed strategy, identify whether it is being fulfilled according to the planned and in what percentage of performance is being carried out.
The implementation of this process is difficult because it is not onlyenvironmental, not only the organization is profitful but their families will not suffer the scarce of natural resources with their contribution.
