She was vice president of the College of Social Workers of La Rioja for years, co -author of various investigations and has presented communications in numerous congresses related to social intervention.

The scientific article of the aid relationship in social intervention is in the magazine of Social Work and Social Action. Through this article the author intends to examine how the relationship of help aimed at the success of social intervention has full influence on the discipline of social work. To do this, she makes an approach of what constitutes the aid relationship through the analysis of what are the elements that comprise and mediate it and what is the right time from which it is inhabited.

To carry out such an analysis, the theoretical foundation of the person -centered paradigms, which have enabled a global vision of the interrelated aid relationship with the final results of an intervention: the person as a relational being, Starting from the basis that it is inherent in its status as a human being and that we need others for our personal fulfillment.

The person -centered intervention from a non -managerial point of view highlighting the participation of the user; Symbolic interactionism as an enhancer of the self through the individual’s link with the social environment; and communication as a central axis of any relationship. After deepening the different paradigms, a qualitative study of various social workers and psychologists through semi -structured interviews about this issue was carried out.

The author collects the results structuring them in the following chapters: from the interpersonal relationship to the relationship as a treatment; between dependence and equality; the success of social intervention as a subjective element; Beyond the relationship, power and wanting in the user; in the barrier of subjectivity and; The wealth of human misery.

In the first chapter, from the interpersonal relationship to the relationship as a treatment, the author highlights the existence of the help relationship because of the need that arises in the human being of relating to others to carry out their personal fulfillment. Likewise, specific that is helpful because the objective pursued by strengthening it in the intervention is to cover the needs that the user presents, as well as those detected by the social worker to go in the achievement of subsequent objectives.

She emphasizes that establishing the aid relationship, as well as promoting its maintenance, is a complex process for the presence of a series of relational variables. When establishing a professional relationship between the social worker himself and the user, the personal relationship is based, since they are two people, without the status of professional, who influence reciprocally and constitute the "entertainment" , so that both are affected by that relationship. One and the other are impregnated with emotions, thoughts and values that will perceive.

To constitute an adequate help relationship, it is necessary to use various professional and personal techniques and skills such as: empathy, acceptance, active listening, not judging, honesty, respect for the pace of the user, the user, Professional secrecy, trust, warmth, establishing a series of limits, treating the person as a unique being and, control of countertransferences.

In addition, one of the functions of the professional is to promote and, where appropriate, enhance the motivation of the user towards change. It is about providing him with instruments so that the person is aimed at being an autonomous person. Through the orientation it offers, accompaniment, and expressive and reflective techniques, the person must begin to draw the changes that their precise situation.

In the second chapter, between dependence and equality, it considers that the link that is formed through this aid relationship must be aimed at its subsequent separation in technical planning and with the user itself. Every intervention must trigger the person’s autonomy preventing dependency relationships from being generated.

In the beginning, the relationship is asymmetric, since the positions of both are not egalitarian because the professional performs a power and is in a position to help the one who attends for a service. But this situation is reversed that the person no longer demands our support and attention.   It also emphasizes that it is important that we act from neutrality, avoiding submerging completely in the subjectivity of establishing the help relationship, determining a temporary limitation working with the duel that involves putting an end, as well as the feelings that occur after this.

In the third chapter, the success of social intervention as a subjective element, indicates the importance of respecting the self-determination of the person as a axis of participation in their change process. That added to professional responsibility is derived in the consensus of the work plan with the user. At the same time, the professional has to perform an exercise of reflection, self-evaluation, to analyze their attitudes and their professional work, as well as the user itself that can make it difficult to build an adequate help relationship.

In this way, external variables such as institutional context or family context will have to keep in mind.   In this way, the social worker must enhance the participation of the person by letting him know that he / she in an instrument that is at her disposal for her change through an attitude of disposition to meet him and a involvement of commitment.

In the fourth chapter, beyond the relationship, power and wanting in the user, it exposes three necessary elements that must be present at the user for the success of the intervention: want, know and power. "Want" refers to the person’s will to demand help to solve the situation in which she is.

For this, it is convenient not to impose a solution, but to build it together respecting the rhythm of the user. Second, the "power" lies in the capabilities that the user has. And finally, the "knowledge" refers to how to get the change, which will arise after the provision of strategies and providing him with techniques to enhance his abilities.

In the fifth chapter, in the barrier of subjectivity, it indicates the importance of the relationship to establish limits, since the user cannot be treated otherwise because he is a person with whom he is sought to be reached your well being. If barriers from the professional to the personal professional are exceed.

In the last chapter, the richness of human misery states that the professional, after the listening of another person’s discomfort constantly, cannot stop being affected. The user’s experiences involve a professional growth in obtain.

That is, it works continuously with foreign pain that after generating the necessary change produces personal satisfaction. In this way it is essential to use techniques to protect oneself as well as become aware of emotional closeness.   In short, the aid relationship is an essential and indispensable element for the realization of social intervention. This relationship is made up of a personal relationship and a professional relationship where it is necessary not to cross established limits.

Likewise, there is a responsibility by the professional in the construction of social reality and by the user in terms of its participation in this. Throughout the intervention process the social worker has to promote a series of qualities such as empathy and acceptance and, the user must have the capacity, will and knowledge of the path for change. Finally, the essential is the instrumentalization of the relationship in achieving objectives, knowing the limits, benefiting personally and producing the separation to generate autonomy by working from the beginning
