Imperialism as modernization of the nation

Introduction

Imperialism, the greatest cause of the suffering of my ancestors, not only theirs but that of all those colonized by the great empires that had the great idea of expanding their territory through colonization, such as Africa, the continent, the continentdistributed by the same empires, because of the emergence of capitalism and the great industrial revolution, two great concepts and ideas that changed the world as we knew it. My name Muse Kafka and my town was colonized by the Belgians.

Developing

So that they can understand my story need to know the background, in history. Imperialism was the transition from colonialism, it was when several ideas and concepts arise as the modern concept of nation, this means that nations began to seek a certain degree of prestige, superiority and superior consciousness over the others and being the sovereign state that would haveThe control of underdeveloped countries, as they classified, a clear example we were, the inhabitants of the Congo.

The "Great Empire of Great Britain", was the empire that promotes the expansion of territories around the world, they had ports in Los Cabos de Africa, but, they had never explored Africa with carefully. And that’s when scientific explorations and private initiatives begin, some of the colonization routes used by empires. They intended to take Africa from north to south, completely, but the empire of the French wanted them, but from the West to the East.

This was obvious that it was going to work, since at some point they were going to enter the same territory that was Fashoda in 1898, a diplomatic conflict was created, between the British expedition of Lord Kitchener and the French expedition of Marchand, luckily it was arrangedA diplomatic agreement was reached that I avoid the war conflict. Great Britain ended up staying with Farshoda . These expeditions carried out were funded by the different European countries.

With the purpose of collecting information about these lands that were unknown at the moment, full of how they called us people without a soul. In these times more and more empires arose as as the United States and Japan, two new powers that did not belong to Western Europe. The empires wanted to be part of the continent, then, they called a conference which was called the Berlin Conference.

Which I treat the distribution of my continent, as if it were a cake and each empire took its piece, as well as. (1884 – 1885). The conference was composed of the 12 countries of Western Europe, the Ottoman Empire and the United States, these empires reached very important conclusions where it was said that the freedom of commerce determines the areas, the neutrality of certain territories and the trafficking ofslaves. And the most important point and that highlights that the only criterion was agreed.

To consider a territory, the possession of a power was the effective occupation, which unleashed the race for the conquest of our African territories. This leads to the forms of domination that they used in us and other countries of my beloved continent through the military occupation that was, that the colonizing country uses military force after having colonized us, imposes military control, so that other colonizersDo not take control of the country.

Thus they appropriated the earth, and that let them exploit the place economically and politically in their favor. Normally when doing that, since they had overproduction of products because of the industrial revolution, they carried their products made with our raw materials and sold it to us, or used us to make their products and took them back to their country. The forms of domination were different and each of them by the different empires.

This was caused by economic causes, because the empires had the need to look for new markets, generating overproduction then sought the markets in the colonies. This was done by King Leopold II, when they agreed to the traffic of slaves with the local chiefs of the Congo at the time, but ended up exploiting us to get rubber for them expand their market and expand them abroad at a more expensive price than thelocal.

conclusion

There were demographic causes, since there was overpopulation and the most important thing is the need they had in raw materials. In addition, they tried and forced us to believe in their religion, they cultivated us, being "superiors", that is what was believed at that time, since this were those of power, this was done by political reasons, since they wantedgain political prestige. These forms of domination they used are 5, the colonies in which my nation was, which are territories governed by officials designated by the administrative power, in our case, Belgium.
