HISTORY OF THE SPANISH CIVIL WAR – 1936
Spanish Civil War, in 1936, fascism was underway through Europe, a new generation of strong leaders emerged from the economic ravages of World War I and the Great Depression. We frequently remember this war as an important moment in the history of the Spaniards. To be able to understand how this war was developed and thousands of people were killed during that event, you must question why the situation broke out in the first place. There are several capital causes that almost simultaneously led to war in Spain in 1936. Before this civil war, Spain was a monarchy, but due to the great depression that the country led to an economic crisis and mass unemployment in Spain and, as a result, the king was forced to abdicate on April 14, 1931 andSpain became a Republic, the Second Spanish Republic. Two of the regions The most important of the Iberian Peninsula wanted Independence, Catalonia and the Basque Country.
The Roman Catholic Church was hostile to the Republic and the Republic was hostile with the very influential Catholic Church. Franco saw the Spanish civil war as a crusade undertaken by faithful against Republicans. The ‘National Catholicism’ was a pillar of its ideology of government, and the Catholic Church was an essential ally in its government.
The government considers that the army had too much voice and vote in politics and decided to reduce its influence. Spain was mainly an agricultural nation and the depression of 1930 affection for crops prices. The main exports, such as olive oil and wine, decreased the value and agricultural lands used above. The most advanced regions compared to the rest of the country, both in the organizational and industrial plan, wanted independence not only for their socio -economic advantage but also to maintain their traditions such as benefits, language and habits. Later, his traditional language was strictly banned in everything that involved public management or media, some folk activities were still tolerated but the reason why these measures were taken was the desire of the people of these regions ofFree from the operation, and the competence of the current government and this, in fact, contributed considerably to the tragic facts of 1936.
The Government of the Popular Front became a farce after the withdrawal of the support of the socialists, there were more and more political disturbances and the government lost control of the country. In July 1936, a politician with the right, Calvo Sotelo, was killed and the politicians of the right and his supporters believed they were in serious danger. They wanted to put their faith in a military dictatorship. In fact, the military had made the preparations for a position in Spain. General Franco acquired control of the military. He took control of the Spanish territory in Morocco after having overthrew the civil government in that part. His next objective was to invade continental Spain, establish a military government in that place and free the country from all involved in the leftist policy that would have to fight for survival.
