History as a story book

Introduction

People live in the present. Plan and care about the future. History is the study of some topic in chronological order: track ideas to its origin and study the evolution of ideas or events. History is more commonly used for government study and policy, but history can also be used to illuminate other issues, such as science, technology, or law.

History gives us a sense of identity. By understanding where we come from, we can better understand who we are. It teaches us what it means to be human, highlighting the great achievements and disastrous errors of the human race. Those who begin in history often believe that history and the past are the same, but this is not the case. The past refers to a previous time, the people and societies that inhabited it and the events that took place there. History is our attempts to investigate, study and explain the past.

This is the difference is subtle but important. What happened in the past is set in time and cannot be changed. The story, on the contrary, changes regularly. The past is an objective certainty, while history is a continuous conversation about the past and its meaning. The English word ‘History’ and ‘Story’ originate from the Latin word "History", which means a narrative or story of past events. The story is in itself a collection of thousands of stories about the past, told by many different people.

Developing

It is a tremendous story, a narrative full of great personalities and stories of confusion and triumph. Because there are many of these stories, they are often variable, contradictory and conflictive. This means that history is subject to constant reviews and reinterpretations. Each generation looks at the past through their own eyes and adds its own chapters of our history, while reinterpretation and search for new things in those chapters already written.

The study of how history differs and has changed over time is called historiography. Like historical narratives, our understanding of what history is and the way it must take is flexible and open to debate. During the time that people have studied history, historians have presented different ideas about how the past should be studied, built, written and interpreted.

As a consequence, historians can address the story in different ways, using different ideas and methods and focusing or prioritizing different aspects. The history is written by the victors. ‘In most countries, history textbooks are tools to promote nationalism and patriotism, and give students the official line about national enemies’.

Depending on what one is trying to try, any event can be seen as one from which the future arose, but it is not like establishing a family tree. It is a natural search, through which individuals try to explain their own lives. We can say that the United States began with the importation of slaves in 1619 and attributes to this all our economic achievements and subsequent social problems.

If politics is its approach, 1619 also marks the creation of the Burgos Chamber of Virginia, the first democratically chosen legislature, an idea that quickly extended to the other colonies. The year 1620 could mark the birth of religious freedom, regardless of the reluctant of pilgrims to grant it to others. Or 1776, 1787, or maybe 1865. Like beauty, the importance of an event is often in the viewer’s eyes.

People who are not historians often say that ‘history is repeated’ or that ‘things were always like that’. History cannot be repeated because history is not a living and thinking being. History is an intellectual discipline practiced by historians who try to make sense of the past. Because the story is about change, nothing was ‘always’ in a certain way.

conclusion

The study of history accumulates experience in the treatment and evaluation of various types of evidence, the type of evidence that historians use to shape the most accurate images of the past they can. Learning to combine different types of evidence public statements, private records, numerical data, visual materials develops the ability to make coherent arguments based on a variety of data. This ability can also be applied to the information found in everyday life. Learning history means acquiring some ability to classify diverse interpretations, often conflictive.

In a society that correctly expects that education serves for useful purposes, the functions of history may seem more difficult to define than those of engineering or medicine. The story is, in fact, very useful, really indispensable, but the products of the historical study are less tangible, sometimes less immediate, than those that come from other disciplines.

History is more than the past and present, history gives us a sense of identity. The story is everywhere. It is necessary for everyone, from government leaders to individuals;Everyone has learned one thing or another in history at some point in their life. History should be studied because it is essential for individuals and society, and because it houses beauty.
