Geno Violence: A study on the problems of current culture
This essay will address one of the most problematic issues today, gender violence. Gender violence is an existing problem throughout history being in all societies and cultures, it is a global phenomenon that transcends age limits, socioeconomic status, educational level and geographical situation. The main cause that gender violence existed from immemorial moments is the macho culture that has instilled a bad meaning of masculinity and femininity being reinforced by social norms and discriminatory laws.
Gender violence until a few decades was considered a right of the husband, being something "normal" and approved by society. This normalization was based that men were superior both physically and intellectually, so the woman had to submit first to her parents and then to her spouses.
In the legal field, there is a clear example in the Spanish Civil Code of July 25, 1889, which in its article 57 indicates “the husband must protect the woman, and it obeys the husband” and in this same sense the article60 points out "The husband is the representative of his wife […]".
During the French revolution many women raised their voices to claim their rights, proposing female emancipation and legal comparison. This movement gave a tremendous impulse to achieve the approval of the female vote. Historical milestones such as this, in addition to the social and legal sanction that has been generated through the times, have allowed more and more steps towards gender equality, reducing violence thanks to the recognition gained towards them in different areas,complemented with punitive actions against aggressors.
In order to get to the time we have eradicated gender violence as a whole, we must work together with all society and cultures immersed in it, so that we all go for the same goal. Some of the appropriate actions that I consider appropriate, is to improve education towards new generations being the basis of this, tolerance, equality and respect. In addition, increase punitive actions on all those who violate women in their different forms, whether physical, psychological, sexual, economic or labor, to name some of the 21 forms of violence.
Making a descent from the topic to the present, after the confinement in Chile as a result of the health emergency that exists due to the Pandemia by the COVID-19 (Coronavirus), an exponential increase in the calls to the phono line has been displayed.in violence against the woman of the Sernameg, with 70% variation and the calls to police in 19%. In conclusion, it can be said that gender violence originates in misogynist culture where their relationships were based on inequality, this problem has been maintained during the course of time, thus assigning different “roles” to men and women. Gender violence has an intimate relationship with that of gender equality, European countries carry the lead in the aforementioned and legal norms that decrease the gap. In this change in mentality, the role of parents is key, who when raising their children are instilling equality between men and women, in parenting, work to be carried out, in recognizing that the complementarity between men and women, enriches anywork.
