Feminism over the centuries, specifically in the mid -nineteenth century
Feminism takes centuries, it is not something new, much less a fashion, it has taken strength at different times and points of history;It is only in the mid -nineteenth century when an organized and collective struggle begins. Women participated in the great historical events of the last centuries such as Renaissance, the French Revolution and socialist revolutions, but subordinately. It is from voting when they claim their autonomy.
In the French Revolution, the collective already had established its purposes, which were linked to the egalitarian and rationalist ideology of illuminism, and to the new working conditions arising from the Industrial Revolution.

The French Revolution had not met their demands, and they learned that they should start fighting autonomously in order to conquer their claims;The first demand was the right to suffrage, from there they hoped to achieve their other conquests.
In general, those who led the movement at that time were women of the bourgeoisie, women of the working class also participated;The United States of America and England were the countries where this movement had greater strength and impact. In 1848, convened by Elizabeth Cady Stanton, the First Congress to claim the civil rights of women was carried out in a church in Seneca Falls. After the civil war, the vote was granted to blacks, but not to women, which caused a stage of hard struggles. In 1920, amendment 19 of the Constitution recognized the right to vote without sex discrimination, which became an achievement for movement.
At that time, Latin America had no great relevance, women did not achieve a strong enough echo. Today, the movement has taken strength in Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Chile, it is relevant to emphasize that in Latin America the main tension resides in how to maintain the radicality of thought and action, while entering public spaces and public spaces andbroader politicians, to negotiate and agree on the proposals and agendas that most women need.
Feminism is broken down into several branches, which are:
- Abolitionist feminism: openly abolitionist is positioned in matters such as prostitution, pornography and surrogacy.
- Transfeminism: argues that both gender and biological sex are social constructions.
- Feminism of equality: gender roles do not exist and that they are a consequence of education and culture received at birth, in the line of what Simone de Beauvoir argued that ‘women are not born, it becomes’.
- Feminism of difference: claims female nature with its own characteristics under the motto "Being a woman is beautiful". The movement flourished in France and the United States in the 70s.
- Socialist feminism: argues that women suffer from an oppression, not only by the so -called ‘patriarchy’, but by capitalism;And that, in addition, both are intimately related.
- Ecofeminism: maintains the idea, born in the 60s and 70s with the representation of authors such as Françoise D´Eaubonne, that the woman is the driver of an ecological revolution that creates a new relationship between the human being and the environment.
- Separatist feminism: recognizes the differences, natural or acquired, between men and women;And he maintains that, given that difference, the woman must be kept out of any relationship with the male, as the only way to develop fully. He also defends lesbian sex as the only way for the full development of female sexuality.
- Liberal feminism: the belief that men and women must have equal rights and opportunities. It is the theory of political, economic and social equality of the sexes.
From there we have radical feminism, this type of feminism does not seek gender equality, seeks to remove everything from root: the social constructs that oppress us.
Radical feminism comes to question everything that oppresses us and that we have been imposed so much that we end up normalizing it, an example of them is hair removal, women shave because they believe it is more attractive to man.
The total release of the patriarchal system is sought, it is importantthat today we have gained strength;The way to free us is gender abolition: roles and stereotypes.
Based on the above, the difference between the latest two positions can be clear: liberal and radical feminism. In case it is not yet clear, liberal feminism, as its name says, is permissive, gives you the option of not abandoning your privileges or at least being able to question them, a very clear example is to proclaim feminist, but continue having a circlesocial of misogynist friends, while the radical seeks our total release, that is, abolish everything from the root.
What do we mean by freeing ourselves?
We do not want the woman to follow a role, that is, she should not impose anything since she was born, it is she who must say, just as we seek the elimination of the sexist and misogynist culture that there is: the man works and the woman must stayas a housewife.
Nine women a day suffer from femicide!, We want to go to college and have the assurance of returning home, we want a better future for all the girls born every day, for the girls of today, for women of the future, we need a free life of the system.
The only feminism that serves is radical, many women begin to integrate into the movement forming part of liberal feminism, but over time they are radicalized, they manage to see beyond, what all women live in the simple fact of the simple fact ofBe women. There is no woman who has not been harassed at some point in her life, just for the simple fact of being a woman, the root of woman’s oppression is her sex or potential reproductive capacity. We have so normalized the fact that all women are born to be mothers and that this is their role for life, that they take abortion as the most abominable sin in the world, when the woman should really decide whether or not to be a parent and shouldBe clear that it is not your obligation to have children, that nothing owes to anyone.
Abortion is awarded to feminists, since it is they who have fought for that right through marches, as well as they have fought for the safety of each girl and wife of our country, but feminism is not only from Mexico, in previous linesIt was mentioned that the movement has gained strength in Latin America, in countries with serious femicides, harassment and violence to women. We carry a lot without being heard and we have tired, women have tired of being oppressed. There are thousands of cases due to femicide and only around 700 cases are investigated and cataloged as such.
Mexico, is among the ten worst countries to be a woman, taking as a position 60, then follow Pakistan, Sri. Lanka, Colombia, which is a neighboring country, and then continuing with Iraq, Nigeria and Guatemala, among others.
We prefer to die before losing their lives, unfortunately there are more women who lose their lives than women who die from natural causes.
