Ethics applied in the business and political field
Today I have noticed how many companies are not transparent and that is why I will take that as the main approach business in whether due to the high levels of corruption or lies by them to hide important information. Another approach to talk about ethics is politics because in this area it is where the lack of this discipline by the presidents, deputies among others is seen much more. This issue caught my attention because I have heard stories by the two previous approaches, in the case of companies the alteration of financial statements and by politics excessive corruption, this leads us to the importance of being professionals.
In the case of day -day companies, it is seen as there is a case of little ethics or even no ethics, a clear example is the recognized Volkswagen car company. This company made the mistake of lying and not being transparent with the pollutant emissions that their cars had, it should be noted that the pollutants of these cars were excessively high. According to (Contreebute, 2018) around 11 million cars were sold with the software which could be detected when an emission test was being carried out and it was stable when it was actually exceeding the established limits. Many companies day by day hide important information to their customers or even the State, this has led to many people to lose interest in acquiring either the product or service that they provide or be fined by the State due to the lack of compliance with laws.
It is ironic because as there are corrupt companies there are also corrupt people, in this case focusing on the state because all people should be ethical, but this is not always fulfilled. For example, companies must be transparent at all costs so as not to be further, but people who have high positions in the state also hide important information to obtain a benefit of this then my thought is the State in itself seeking that the laws be fulfilled by companies, but when it comes to themselves to comply with the laws or norms do not do it because as they benefit them they prefer to remain silent. This is seen in politics, many presidents, deputies among others promise to stop with the corruption in which the country is, but when lying and hiding information favors them there if they say nothing.
Ethics not only focuses on transparency but also a variable of values which define a someone like a person with this discipline. To be a successful person you have to know how to distinguish when something is right or this is important to make mistakes which can be harmful in life, in addition to having this discipline one can feel like a true professional. It is the obligation of each person self-value and determine how they want to be, if a professional person with intact ethics or a corrupt person with unprofessionalism who only cares about money.
