Erotic toy consumption in men
Introduction
The social research work that we are going to present is about the consumption of erotic toy store, based mainly on a male sociological profile.
Sex and self-stimulation has been one of the most analyzed and less understood land throughout history and through this project, we want to achieve greater visibility of this issue, publicize the different types of erotic toys most used by men by men, focusing in a geographical way in Madrid.
Today, it is true, that we have managed to demolish a large number of barriers related to social freedom regarding the sexual, both of thought and action. But, despite the fact that our society has not become extinct thanks to sexual instinct, we continue to treat it as a taboo subject.
We usually talk or think about it as something negative and it is really something practiced by the vast majority of social beings. Traditionally, sexuality has been repressed preventing healthy, responsible and enriching construction of personality. A series of values and norms of what we know as sexual or sexual ethics that have been modified throughout history have been built, and that will continue to advance (hopefully positively) over the years, since, as we havementioned above, it has not yet been totally normalized.
In our project, as we have mentioned at the beginning we focus on the profile of men, which deal with very early age and masturbation issues with great naturalness. That is why we have believed that it would be interesting to investigate more thoroughly the use of erotic toys by these and observe what result we obtain.
To be able to carry out a better, more professional and faster project research we will hire qualified personnel for the sectors in which we need them, specifically for the completion of the surveys and the analysis of the project itself once the results of this.
Finally, for this one, we will use a period of time of about 5 months located between January 1 and May 31, 2020.
Theoretical framework
The evolution of many sex toys that were used a lot of years ago continues to present our lives today, a sign that still, and perhaps more than ever, sexuality and enjoyment is a very relevant part in the life ofpeople.
Since the beginning of humanity, objects and substances have been used as a complement to the sexual stimulus of the genitals of both men and women. You have to clarify before what is a sex toy. It is any object that has a contribution in sexual relations. These range from wives, whips … to dildos, rings etc.
The first female sex toy was on the 23rd.000 a.C. It consisted of an elongated and smooth stone, of seemingly soft texture that was introduced by the woman’s vagina.In the case of the first male sex toy, olive oil could be considered, used to lubricate the area and feel a more intense pleasure. Justification
This research deals with an important issue and that has to be made known more deeply because since the beginning of time the issue we deal with has been a taboo for a large part of society, it was something that could barely talk. Moreover, looking for old research on it or related issues;We have not found anything on pages like CIS or Eurostat. We find that we must give more visibility to an issue that is almost completely normalized today and that is considered something "natural".

- Taboo: condition of the people, institutions and things to which it is not lawful to censor or mention.
- Sexual stimulus: It is triggered in response to a stimulus, a physical agent, which triggers a functional reaction in an organism.
- Natural: Belonging to nature or according to the quality or property of things.
- Consumption: Action and effect of consuming. (groceries or other goods).
- Sexual prejudices: Effect of prejudging the relative to sex.
- Censorship: censor action.

Objectives
Once the topic to study is decided, we will define the main objective and a series of specific objectives that are related to our project and help us to investigate and know more about the consumption of erotic toys today, focusing mainly on men.
General objective:
- Study the consumption of erotic toys by men in the city of Madrid.
Specific goal:
- Sociological profile of men who consume erotic toy store.
- What type of erotic toy store acquire.
- When they consume it.
- How and with whom they consume it.
Hypothesis
After defining our goals, we will formulate a series of hypothesis.
The male consumers of these products are leaving conventional thoughts behind and eliminating the sexual prejudices they had so far, increasing more and more erotic toys in order to discover new ways to meet their sexual needs, and with more variety of products.
Being so much variety of products, we can find different types of consumers according to their sexual preferences.Because every day the use of erotic toys is more normalized, this is consumed increasingly frequently.Although erotic toy store is thought for solo consumption, a large majority is also used in pairs or with more people.
Methodology
The methodology of our project is quantitative. It is quantitative because the information is numerical and its statistical treatment lists the possible relationships between the variables considered in the investigation. In addition, the end of our project use the survey technique, which we will carry out using a questionnaire as a tool.
Sample:
- Geographic scope: City of Madrid.
- Population scope: Erotic toy store consumers.
- Temporary scope: future (months that will last until you are delivered)
- Analysis Unit: Erotic toy store in men.
- Sampling types: For our project we need to use two types of sampling, both not probabilistic.
First, we will use intentional or convenience sampling, to select the “sex-shop” to which we will make our questionnaire. We use this type of sampling because we have based on its fame within the city and the transit it has (the busiest).
Second, to choose the individuals that we are going to survey, we will use a casual or accidental sampling, since we will put ourselves at the door of the “sex-shop” previously selected and we will survey to different men who leave the premises of the premises.
Research phases
Preparatory:
We prepare the questionnaire. We hire a company called: "Santillana surveys" to do the field work since they are specialists in the completion of surveys.
We will also hire a statistical specialist called: Elena González Martín to carry out the analysis of the results obtained in the questionnaires carried out.
We seek and locate the 20 “sex shop” best known and traveled in Madrid using a non -probabilistic sampling of an intentional or convenience type to be able to carry out the specific questionnaires by selecting individuals through another type of casual non -probabilistic samplingor accidental.During this phase, we will also take care of obtaining all the physical material that is necessary to facilitate the work and advance more quickly (office material, for example).This process, in total, will take us a period of time of approximately 2 and a half.
Field work:
The work will be distributed among 10 people provided by the company "Santillana surveys".
Prior to the work itself a meeting will be convened with the company mentioned above, where all aspects will be discussed during the completion of the surveys. Also, we will go next to the members of the company at the doors of the premises selected for research and, in this way, we can locate them more easily when performing the surveys. These two processes will take an approximate time of 2 weeks.
The completion of the surveys will be carried out from Tuesday to Friday for a period of 2 weeks distributing the 10 individuals simultaneously at the doors of the 20 “sex shop” most famous and traveled (selected using an intentional non -probabilistic sampling orconvenience) in Madrid. These will carry out the questionnaires by placing themselves at the doors of the “sex shop” that we have already mentioned and will stop the people they find convenient for the investigation, using, in this way, a casual or accidental non -probabilistic sampling.
Analysis of data
The duration of the analysis of the data collected in the investigation will occupy a period of 2 weeks since it is the time that our statistics specialist has given us: Elena González Martín.
Data interpretation:
It will last one month, according to the professional we have hired (already mentioned above).
To check the results (using a hypothesis) we will use an approximate period of time of one week. The analysis will take us between 1 and 2 weeks. Finally, to be able to draw all the conclusions regarding the investigation we will use an approximate period of between 1 and 2 weeks.
Timeline:
Our research will cover a period of 5 months, starting in January 2020 and with an approximate completion in May of that same year.
