One of the biggest problems we face worldwide is to achieve sustainable development and will not be possible without the voice of the Church. The social doctrine of the Church and its moral teachings are essential. We have begun an era of history in which new solutions and alternatives are required, and if these new perspectives really want to cause the world mobilization that is required, they must be based on a new global ethics. Until now, our society has been unable to deal with the threats of climate change and other serious dangers. And this endangers humanity.
To change it we must achieve sustainable development, this combines economic development, social inclusion, environmental sustainability and good government practices. The social doctrine of the Church offers a unique and crucial path to a global sustainable development ethic. The Church speaks clearly about our responsibilities with creation, with true charity and with subsidiarity in government practices.
We can move towards a new global ethic, learning from the social teachings of the Church and other great traditions.
