Education and sexuality
Together with chastity, it is God with his grace that makes possible the total donation to the spouse: “The Lord for a special gift of his grace and charity, has deigned healing, perfecting and raising this love (the human). Such love, that the divine and the human joins at the same time, leads the spouses to a mutual and free gift of themselves, demonstrated in the tenderness of works and affections, and penetrates their whole life;Moreover, it is perfected and increased with generous activity.”(Ibid, N.º 49)
Educate sexuality
All education is like a goldsmith’s work: slaughter and chisel blow, to get out of the material with which the best is available. Education must be present throughout life;But integral education has its starting point in childhood and adolescence (Rojas, E, 2006: 12). What are the main elements of education? We can summarize them like this: first of all the specific topic in question (there is physical, psychological, artistic education, for tennis, golf, English, martial arts, sexuality education and a very long etcetera);Then there is the figure of the educator who will have an enormous importance, the motivation that is put into play, the love with which this subject is taught and the discipline that will be necessary for it to consolidate and not be a flower of one day.
Sexual education consists in achieving adequate knowledge of what sexuality is, which goes from its development to the culmination of the physical encounter between a man and a woman, who points towards psychological maturity and the fullness of the person, inThe framework of what human dignity should be. That knowledge does not neglect any aspect of man: it goes from anatomy to the physical level, from psychological aspects to social and cultural, through the spiritual terrain and the environment where it develops or its evolutionary stages that it will have.
Full, complete, integral education, there are all their ingredients convened. The great task of the educator is to propose specific purposes, making them suggestive and attractive, although at first they are expensive and present themselves as a steep slope. All the great of man is the result of effort and renunciation. The success of education consists in providing a balanced knowledge of oneself and reality, promoting an adequate hierarchy of values. Sexual education fails when it is only technical information and when there is a clear mismatch or a lack of harmony in what is taught, there is no human progress if it is not done with a moral background adjusted to the truth of man.
Therefore, a good education of sexuality is aimed at knowing and having properly dispose of sexual life, being able to pilot it towards the best personal development. Its goal is the integration of these trends into an increasingly mature personality, in a way all sexual impulses are charged in an orderly and enriching way.
Children have to start them as their age progresses. With simple explanations and satisfied with his psychology, but without falsifying the truth, knowing how to serve it as something normal, natural, positive. (Loring, 1996: 152).
In adolescence we suggest to parents the position of getting ahead and, thus, drawing criteria that help you understand what they currently experience within themselves. Each case will need a different strategy. Always elegant and prudent forms will give the most quality theme. In this age you have to flee from two quite common negative positions:
- The repressive radical rejection, which makes us return to the Victorian era or a puritanism of poor prognosis;In all these conceptions it beats a not wanting to address the issue, and let it pass by various reasons;
- Materialist anthropology (biologism) reduces man’s vision to the purely material, not admitting the other dimensions (psychological, spiritual and cultural);An example would be Pansexualism. Both positions are reductionists and offer a narrow vision of the human being.
Educating in and for freedom is always a risk, but it is a noble task, which contributes to introducing one in reality and which ultimately intends to develop all the structures of an individual seeking its integral realization. Dominate and be lord of sexuality itself, governing it with love, to deliver it to another person, through a compromised donation. When this is not the case, sexual impulses are gaining ground according to their whim, pulling the behavior;marking an obsessive and crushing line, which does not release man, but it reduces it. Hence, love and sexuality form a reciprocal set: one cannot give one without the other in the man-woman relationship.
Personal dimension of human sexuality
The primary fact of this dimension is that every human person is male or female, and this leads to two ways of being different. We can address the issue by listing the different components of sex, which occur in absolute unity, everyone goes in unison, although here we comment are in isolation. (Lucisiano, 1995: 26-35):
Genetic sex: is one that is defined by the chromosomes, XX Woman and Xy Male.
- Gonádic sex: in attention to the gonads that it has, testicles or ovaries.
- Morphological sex: it is defined by both internal and external sexual organs that the person possesses: uterus, vagina … or penis, prostate ..
- SOCIAL SEX: According to the child attending their physical characteristics (the three previous types), it will begin to educate in one way or another.
- Phenotypic sex: are those external characteristics that make an individual be defined as a man or woman, the secondary sexual characters.
- Psychic sex: the woman is recognized as such and has preferences for men, and vice versa. It is formed by both biological factors and
