Defining gender discrimination
Introduction.
To talk about gender discrimination we must first define both terms to understand what the subject is about. According to the Royal Spanish Academy [RAE]: "Discrimination is to give unequal treatment to a person or community for racial, political, sex or physical condition reasons, and gender is the group to which the human beings of each sex belong". The bad treatment of people for its gender is not something new that has emerged recently, it is a problem that has been dragging since very ancient times and expanding throughout the world.
Nowadays you can see how people are treated with inequality to each other, by simply sharing the same physical features, beliefs, tastes or having the same capacities. In labor environments, you can frequently observe the treatment of people for their gender, and that causes only people of "good appearance" and not people with a good career and experienced in their work. This problem does not occur only in work fields, but also in sports, educational institutions and political organizations.
Developing.
There are many institutions that prohibit gender discrimination, such as the Federation of Progressive Women, UNICEF Peru, Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations, etc. These fight for equality among all, giving talks, promoting respect and changing the mentality of people.
It must be how we must live, respecting others, not criticizing or offending a person for what they are or because we do not like their way of thinking and seeing things, we must accept everyone as they are. In this essay we have defined two types of variables which we will detail below with the purpose of explaining the impact it has within society. The variables that have been defined are: gender discrimination and work environment
Gender discrimination is done when it comes differently, in the negative, due to the individual’s gender. Although, due to its explanation, such discrimination can damage both men and ladies, but in reality are these that support rejection more commonly.
The origin of the difference in treatment between people has an authentic and cultural root. In some cases it has tried to be demonstrated by biological reasons, which would define for their defenders a lower role of female. Religions have had a determining work in the treatment granted to the ladies, why all these position them in a lower level than that of men.
conclusion.
Gender roles and work traditionally designated for each sex, try to stay for this type of discrimination. Thus, it is protected that women cannot be established in certain jobs, but must deal with household chores, care for their children or that they must behave in a pre -established way.
