Declaration of Rights and its importance for education

In everyday life we use the word right to refer to different things, however, we can describe them as the system of rules that govern social coexistence. Human rights find one of their most important moments in the declaration of the rights of man and citizen by allowing this the definition, establishment and dissemination of them, becoming universal. From this, the rights have been developed and diversified in order to reach as many people as possible. One of these, the right to education.

Education is understood as the right to acquire knowledge that allows us to lead a full social life. Education is the process by which new generations obtain the knowledge, practices and values of their ancestors, achieving, with this, the powers to continue. In this way, education shapes the sociocultural identity of each social group and allows us to be able to live together and develop within this. The pedagogue John Dewey said well, "what nutrition and reproduction are to physiological life, is education to social life". Therefore, states must seek access to education.

In this order of ideas, we find how education plays a key role not only in the social conversion of man, but before it also enables the formation of the person, of being. Before being able to live in society, the person must recognize themselves as a human, as a subject of rights that derive from being a member of a society, of being citizens.

The philosopher j.J Rousseau follows this line and also adds that the ultimate goal of education must be freedom, create free people. This allows us to observe that education is also the tool by which other rights can be achieved. Through education, man is released and recognized in him a subject of not only duties, but also rights that enable coexistence, tolerance and respect among us.  The fulfillment of human rights passes through education, then, the fulfillment of human rights.

To conclude, I think that education finds its meaning precisely in that, in allowing us to recognize a value that derives from our simple human condition. By training as people, he forms us for and as a society. All subsequent consequences are born from this.
