Decision making seen as a cognitive process is an important aspect in sports performance that occurs in volleyballs from the processing of information in the environment where the athlete is interacting with a medium that has social and physical characteristics, thewhich condition the decision making and the game action. Within a task, it will be the structural characteristics that allow the development and improvement of certain game actions. The reasoning and thought processes link to the decision -making that the athlete develops in real game situations, which includes the procedural knowledge that it has about volleyball and that are stored in memory. (Sáez-Gallego et al., 2013)
The ability to develop internal mental representations to interpret stimuli and choose an action, highlighting the need to develop knowledge structures that condition decision making, are advantages that the most expert players have, and who have had a lot of experiences. That is why the need of players in the puberty phase focuses on developing these types of plays, starting with easier game actions, making their difficulty increase gradually and obtaining the stadiums in whichIt is located and technical level of each athlete, in order to obtain a more varied knowledge which develops more effective decisions. It seeks to develop cognitive-decisional capabilities trained through different types of activities, which are considered essential for performance, these can be through videos, competitions, individual instructions, among others. But that in all methodological proposals, the need to give experience in relation to the tactical analysis of their own decisions for a development of reflexive supervision programs, where tools such as questioning through questions, feedback, training strategies, training strategies are includedaimed at recognizing the contextual factors of tactical behavior during competitions. (Domínguez. A et al., 2011)
Tejada and Suarez (2015), propose that decision -making in team sports could be evaluated from three aspects: what the player did, what he could have done with what he knew and what he should do before a future opportunity. The first aspect refers to the actions that can be analyzed by video, post competition;The second aspect refers to the conceptual, procedural and attitudinal knowledge that can be evaluated through an interview;Finally, the third aspect refers to what the player can do with a new specific preparation or training to face a similar situation in a new competition.
A form of decision -making we can use systematic observation (see Figure 16 in Annex) as a data collection instrument that was designed to observe and encode sports actions that demonstrate the individual’s ability to resolve
Tactical problems in the volleyball attack action, called GPAI (Games Performance Assessment Instrument) (see Figure 17 in Annex). The decision -making index is a numerical value resulting from the division between the total number of appropriate actions, on the sum of appropriate actions, plus inappropriate actions (index: appropriate actions / appropriate actions + inappropriate actions). This value is currently used as one of the indicators of the team’s performance evaluation systems. (Tejada and Suarez, 2015)
