Introduction

This document shows as an essay a description of the geographical, historical and cultural landscape of Ecuador and certain physical characteristics as well as biodiversity, the most relevant themes that will emphasize the topic to develop will be described.

Developing

Geography is the discipline that deals with the description or graphic representation of the Earth.

The study of geography, among other aspects, contributes to a better use of natural resources, to the prevention of catastrophic phenomena, such as natural disasters;It serves as support for the defense, security and development of nations, which falls on the improvement of the population’s living conditions. (Gómez & Fernández).

Geographic landscape

The geographical landscape is a generalization derived from the observation of individual scenarios.

It is formed by all those physical elements that make up a certain place. The natural landscape is the exclusive work of nature;that is, it has not been transformed by man.

Historical landscape

It is about everything related to the urban and classical infrastructure of a city or town that is part of its history, tradition or heritage.

The historical urban landscape is understood as the urban area resulting from a historical stratification of cultural and natural values and attributes, which transcends the notion of “set” or “historic center’ to cover the general urban context and its geographical environment. (UNESCO, 2011)

Cultural landscape

According to (Blanca, Fernández Fernández, & López-Davalillo, 2016) the ‘cultural landscape’ is defined in the National Cultural Landscape Plan as the “result of the interaction in the time of people and the natural environment, whose expression is aperceived and valued territory for its cultural qualities, product of a process and support of the identity of a community ”.

This type of landscapes emphasizes all infrastructure created by man and has modified the landscape of nature, in this type of landscape the buildings, bridges, roads, among others, among others are reflected.

Physical characteristics of Ecuador

Located northeast of South America, it is one of the smallest countries with an extension of 256370 km2. Includes the Galapagos Islands and several coastal islands, the country’s geography is marked by the presence of the Andes mountain range.

Biodiversity
