Critics review of Gabriel García Márquez’s book
Let’s talk about our beloved Colombian writer of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982, that is, he is the renowned character Gabriel García Márquez that we have all heard from his innumerable works written throughout his life and among them is our book of today that was published in 1974 in Colombia, being a short novel. Gabo was born on March 6, 1927 in Aracataca, died at 87 years in the city of Mexico. Apart from his main profession he was a screenwriter, editor and journalist. He was related to the movement of magical realism because he wrote one of the most representative works of this genre: one hundred years of solitude. The incredible and sad story of the candid Eréndira and her heartless grandmother is a story in which the main character shows us the story of Eréndira, who is a 14 -year -old girl at the beginning of the story, with a languid, very thin appearance , very quiet and very submissive to her grandmother’s orders, she received a truly unfortunate treatment, in general words she was her grandmother’s servant, in addition to taking care of the homework, for this reason Eréndira remained very tired; Until one day, because of the same exhaustion, an incident occurred with a candlestick that had left and caught the house burning absolutely all the valuable belongings of the grandmother.
So the poor creature had to respond in some way or another for the value of the damages caused, the easiest thing for his grandmother was to sell his granddaughter’s body, first, his virginity and when no one else in his town wanted it , they decided to change their place, and there a brothel was literally formed so that men could be with Eréndira, one after another, they were difficult times for her. Shortly after she met Eulises a boy from a family of smugglers and handsome, who fell in love with the poor girl, this being reciprocal, so they managed to look hidden. The time passed and still appeared for her, until one day along with Eulises decide He noticed this took his grandmother’s coat, where he kept the gold bullion and ran out, as if there was no end, he ran free and totally alone, without knowing what his destiny was, but he knew that he finally got freedom.
From the above we can show how the author makes a strong criticism of a social problem that is evidence Gabriel García Márquez wanted to question the sad reality of many girls that perhaps not with equal stories, but very similar, they must go either by their families as is the case of the book, or by ruthless people That they kidnap them in order to prostitute them or sell them, they are very strong words but for him it was a reality that could not be hidden.
Finally and to personal opinion I can reflect that there are issues of our society that we often try to evadir occasions, and put ourselves in their place and think about all the inhuman barbarities who had to pass, by people so unscrupulous that they took childhood from an innocent child who should be studying, playing in a park, enjoying childhood, having a family who loves them and takes care of them; It is difficult to understand. As shown at the end of the book, they just want their freedom again.
I recommend this work because it is a short text of easy understanding for the reader, with different facts and circumstances present around the whole story that catches you to know what will continue, but also has a background which we can show and meditate on strong topics such as the exposed one, obtaining a critical position referring to them and encouraging consciousness.
