Bioethics as an integral part of life

Bioethics ”is a term with two parts, and each one needs an explanation. Here, ‘ethics’ refers to the identification, study and resolution or mitigation of conflicts between values or objectives in competition. The ethical question is: ‘What should we do, considering everything?’The‘ Bio ’puts the ethical question in a particular context. It is commonly understood that bioethics refers to the ethical implications and applications of health sciences related to health. These implications can be extended along the ‘translation pipe’ from the bank to the head. Dilemmas may arise for the basic scientist who wishes. Be unpublished with the moral limits of your subsequent destruction. How much should the scientist worry about their possible uses?

Bioethics questions are not just for "experts". Discussions about bioethical challenges take place in the media, in the academy, in the classrooms, but also in laboratories, offices and hospitals. They involve not only doctors, but patients, not only scientists and politicians, but also the general public. Bioethics concerns about ethical issues involve the human understanding of life. Born by need for critical reflection on ethical conflicts, which are caused by progress in life sciences and medicine. Technological and medical tools have an important role in society and must be administered. It is important to know that bioethics does not defend a particular moral attitude or offers decisive and definitive responses, but seeks a founded, critical and argumentation centered on the uniqueness of a specific situation.

The time has come to expand the horizons. Any ethical problem that is within the scope of the medical community has a direct impact on society and, therefore, should be transmitted to all. What better time can there be to educate people about these problems than in their childhood when they are consuming social and moral values and learning to differentiate the correct thing from incorrect? UNESCO has recognized the underlying principle that science and medicine affect society and, therefore, there must be a continuous dialogue on medical / scientific issues within society itself. It has been incorporated into the Universal Declaration on Bioethics, adopted in October 2005 by the UNESCO General Conference.

The teaching of bioethics should not be ruled out as something for which our society is not yet prepared. In the first place, respect for life is an element that lacks a lot in our environment and the sooner we start working to instill in our people, the better. We accept the loss of lives and human dignity with equanimity, probably because it has always been. But it’s not time to change? Now we develop sensitivity in ourselves and in our children that life, whether human, animal or plant, is a gift that must be appreciated, valued and preserved. Without this sensitivity, the rights to life, human dignity and freedom recognized by all human rights instruments lack meaning.

It is also imperative that scientific knowledge becomes an integral part of life. Not only each student should be taught a basic science course, even if their specialization area is humanities. Science must also be popular among the LEGO public teaching scientific knowledge in an interesting and easily understandable way.
