Bergerac Cyrano tragicomedy

Introduction

Cyrano de Bergerac, is a tragicomedy of five acts, written in verse, of the French poet and playwright Edmond Rostand. The main character, Cyrano, is a man with an unpleasant appearance for his great nose;He has a poetry ability. He is a man with a very special gift, specializes in the word and rhyme of the verses. When Cyrano falls in love, he does not believe he is worthy of love due to his ugliness, he helps his love rival with his words to fall in love with the girl and despite Christian dies. Cyrano could have fallen in love being himself, talking to her words, she did not reveal it because she kept believing that she was not worthy of the love she could give him until the day of her death.

Developing

The idea about beauty is something superficial and is demonstrated in the book of "Cyrano de Bergerac" we can observe inner and outer beauty, as an example Cyrano, symbolizes inner beauty and its partner Cristián the exterior the exterior. The character of Roxana represents the people who focus on the physical instead of the soul and the actions, the interior of the person. Sufficient reason for Roxana to ignore all Cyrano’s values before Cristian’s face. Cyrano, is considered an ugly man, with a huge nose of which he feels self-conscious. Everyone feels respect towards their nose and believes that it is an impediment to achieve their love with Roxana, although he is a man with a great gift from the word, proud and intelligent.

But he does not dare to think that someone loves him for his little beauty, when the woman who loves has a beauty that nobody compares. In the work we can see how Roxana describes Cristián’s physique as: “in his forehead it shows that he is ingenious, brave, noble, young, intrepid, beautiful’. This description of Roxana affects Cyrano because he knows that his physique is not as beautiful as Cristián is described by Roxana, and replies: “Beautiful!"We cannot judge Roxana because of Cyrano, who did not give her the opportunity to meet him as a man in love, worthy of her, through each verse that flew towards her balcony, full of illusions for being the owner of her heart.

Cyrano joins Cristian to fall in love with the woman of which both are in love, because one has beauty and the other ingenuity to conquer her. Cristián sends a letter to Roxana written by Cyrano which expresses all his feeling, ignoring this letter symbolizes the love of both. Roxana responds to Cristián, “Now I love you just for your soul!".  We will look at how the internal is confused with the exterior. People want souls to be beautiful and externally, example: if you are looking for an attractive person out of exterior, but poor inner beauty, as well as Cristián.

Cristián who knows about his situation says: “Bah! When it comes to attacking, words come out of his mouth; But before a woman, I don’t know what to say and her eyes, when next to them I pass, they have so many benefits for me!”, They will not get anything just false hope. Physical appearance is what attracts a person first, but once you know her better, her inner beauty becomes much more important. Beauty is the brightness of someone who comes from within. “On the other hand, if you strive to convince yourself that you are ugly or that nobody would want to be with you, your beauty will reflect that same idea and project it to others."Finding someone to accompany you and inspire you is a unique sensation. Because when you are with someone to see things with love and everything is more beautiful.

When a person has love in his life he feels more happy and happy. In the world it is full of negative things, all the time we find reasons to stop believing in others or in oneself. When you change the chip and start looking for love and happiness, suddenly everything is brighter. We can see how the word is of importance in this tragedy;Like the word that makes Roxana fall in love with Cristian. This causes a great conflict in the work because if Cyrano had realized that and had the courage to tell Roxana, he would have forgotten his physical insecurity, because with those written words, with those verses, Roxana fell in loveof words. Roxana can represent love, courage and a very impulsive character.

While Cyrano represents inner beauty, pride and purity of person, Cristian represents physical and material beauty; He was Cyrano’s mask as they conquered Roxana. It is a different love that Cristian and Cyrano represents;Cyrano’s is of a known love and Cristian’s is a false love for Roxana, because she had fallen in love with him through the letters written by Cyrano, therefore, who was really in love is Cyrano;which was always faithful to his friend Cristian despite the fact that the two liked the same woman. Cristian goes to war and dies, a few years later Cyrano meets Roxana again and when reading a letter written by Cyrano, she realizes that she is really in love with him and not Cristian.

Cyrano before dying tells Roxana no! Even in the stories, when someone says "I love you" the horrible prince, he feels that his ugliness fades with these words. But as you can see, I remain the same. If Cyrano loved himself, he felt well with himself Roxana had fallen in love with Cyrano and not Cristián. If Roxana had realized that Cyrano wrote the letters, the story had been total different mind, Roxana had fallen in love with Cristián for external and interior beauty. At the end of all outside beauty it makes all the characters in the work stop suffering. If Cyrano with that bravery of Espadachín tells him what he really feels about Roxana no matter how.

All people can become beautiful if they stop having so many insecurities and begin to believe in themselves. You have to accept themselves, so people begin to attract by this person and begin to realize that what matters is the interior not physical. The most pleasant experience for the human being is to feel love and give love to others. Just as Cyrano does not love himself, he can’t let love him and that is why he rejects the opportunity to be with Roxana. “Inner beauty helps us appreciate outer beauty. If you love yourself and feel good about yourself, you will feel safer when interacting with others. Your ‘style’ or your physical features are just a look at the person who are actually."

conclusion

Concluding, the work is Cyrano, he is a man who off his illusions for giving so much importance to his physical defect that under his own self – esteem. Because of his insecurities he uses Cristian as a mask to be able to give Roxana some love letters that declared them through her through. If Roxana realized how Cristian really was not the man who is falling in love with these words of love, Cyrano could have found his love, but first he must love himself and then he can give him all the love thatHe has towards Roxana, without having used a mask. Then we can see how the truth tells Roxana, and realizes that he is not his ex -husband. You have to love oneself because people can see you at the beginning physically, but they stop seeing the interior of oneself and that is what is best, what one gives to be able to do to the person you like, make it happy because inIt could really love you as one is without appearances.
