Avoid errors in vaccin administration in daily practice

Introduction

One of the greatest achievements in public health has been the prevention of infectious-contagious diseases through immunization. The governments of each country with their recommendations are those that mark the line to follow as to how the vaccination of the population must be carried out systematically. Professionals who are responsible for the prescription and administration of vaccines are forced to be updated continuously by carrying out continuous training due to continuous changes in vaccination calendars . There are few interventions in this field that have avoided as many deaths and diseases as applied vaccines, through organized programs.

Objectives

  • Know the event rate that may be related to vaccines.
  • Notify, investigate, and analyze the events that are supposedly related to vaccines.
  • Take measures to correct any identifiable problem in research.
  • Communicate efficiently and effectively to the community.
  • Inform parents about vaccines related events and on the diseases against which it protects.
  • Find the quality of care in vaccination by the professional.

Method

A bibliographic review is carried out in the following databases:

  • Medline
  • Scielo
  • Take care of
  • Lilacs
  • Pubmed

Results

The health personnel involved in vaccination must know what are the adverse reactions that may occur after the administration of the vaccine and also all those related to the program (storage, handling, or administration). These events must communicate and register with pharmacovigilance services.

Conclusions

After analyzing the different studies and our professional experience, we conclude that nursing specialties and failing adequate training and support by the multidisciplinary team, would avoid errors in vaccination, whose main objective is to increase the levelof population health not causing any damage.

The importance of vaccination programs in the population is that, with these programs, not only the population is protected against certain infectious diseases, but also prevents the person from becoming, in turn, a source of infectionFor other population members. Therefore, it is important that the prescription and administration of these vaccines are carried out correctly by the health personnel in charge of said activity.
